Planning a trip from whidbey island washington state to Osawatomie kansas

I'm in the stage of planning a trip from Whidbey Island Washington state to Osawatomie Kansas. I am looking at driving down through California into New Mexico and probably through Arizona and so on back to Kansas. Any advice on maybe alternate routs or good weather routs period would be greatly appreciated. Also what weather conditions am I looking at for the time from of March 13th through march 23rd? Any advice will be good to have. I'm actually going up to pick up my bike that I purchased from my friend, 2003 GSXR 750, and riding it back. I currently has 3200 miles and only paid 2500 for it. Bike is in great shape. New tires and fluids just changed. Once again thank you in advance.
