its all about weight...his wing area is actually quite limited for his weight and thus why he needs the speed to sustain the lift of his body weight...so takeing off from no speed would be like lowsideing slide till up till speed....mabey a slingshot...or mabey a catapault...just thinking lol
If his wing area is limited by his weight then he needs MORE POWER!
A Harrier can take off vertically I'm sure he'll figure it out. From standing up looking up if you could hold on clinch your cheeks and gun it into the sky that would be cool!

This guy's been experimenting with this for about 4 years now. He's got to keep the wing size small so he can get into/out of what he's launching from. He's pushing his luck with this - and every time pushes it a little bit more - eventually it's gonna bite him....
