I noticed a few days ago gas was costing me $2.64 here in Virginia..

take the state/fed taxes off.. it would be $2.24

add back normal va sales tax of %5

$2.35 per gallon...

.29 cents extra for every gallon more expensive than if it were a shirt, or a air filter, or oil filter..

and which one do you buy more of?

if I fill my vehicle up from basically empty... the gubmint makes nearly 9 dollars on me... every time.

I know this is a bit of stretch here..

but add that to the 3% sales tax when I bought the vehicle, the pers. property taxes every year of about $200...

jesus christ!

how in the hell is this country in debt?

discuss!

I agree. How can there be a deficit. I make just over 90K and yet I bring home just over 50K. Just how many people around the country and the world am I supporting. I say fugg em' I want to keep what I earn and if the rest get hungry or cold maybe they will get up off their dead asses and start to make their own way. And did you see where Exxon posted the largest quarterly gain in history.

deficit is the government way of talking us into more taxes. [/QUOTE]
+1
And they fall for it every time.

If you think that's bad, you should see the tax on a case of Cigarettes. How about $ 280 a case

, which was more than our markup when I was in the manufacturing business
