The bike's been sitting unstarted for at least two months with the alarm on(yes, really stupid!!). When I turn the bike's ignition on its completely dark. I took the sealed battery out and charged it slowly for 3 hours and put it back in. As I connected the last terminal something in the gauge cluster started clicking (ignition off too). Nothing still. I looked at the terminals and the neg/black terminal and cable connector has a white glaze on it, so I mixed up some baking soda and water and scrubbed off the white stuff(corrosion?) with a toothbrush, dried it(didn't rinse with water tho'). tightened up the screws on the terminal and still nothing! I did notice that the tach arm is at 2,500 rpm and the gas gauge is at the max position. What am I doing wrong? Fortunately I can't ride it anyway because I need a sticker on my tag, but I am sick of having bike problems(my '84 Ninja has been a constant problem:banghead:). If any of you guys can suggest something I'd be really appreciative. Regards,

Kurt

Charge the battery over night and check it with a voltmeter. If it's less than 12.6 replace it. That still doesn't mean it's good under load. Battery Tenders are 19.99 through cyclegear.

Thanks TX

Dad- Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure how old the battery is, but I'll give it a shot:beerchug:

+1 new battery

Bike is still fairly new(to you) and you aren't sure how old the battery is. It's not fun when you ride it around town, stop for pack of cigs and then find out bike wont start.

I take it you going to store the bike for winter? Maybe hold off getting new battery until next riding season? If you plan on getting a battery now and not planning on using the bike on a regular basis, buy a battery tender. They cheap. That click that you heard was prob due to just having a trickle of juice in the battery. Treat your gas also if it's gonna sit for any real period of time.

Good Luck!

Thank you Strife. I enjoy riding in winter, especially since the bike's more responsive from the dense air. I am going for the new battery and battery tender! Thanx again :):beerchug:
