I like watching this guy on youtube. He gives great reviews on firearms, but he made a video about Assault Weapons Ban 2013. I found it very imformative and sent a message like the one listed below to my congressman and the president.

Assault Weapons Ban 2013

Dianne Feinstein has released details for her proposed 2013 Assault Weapons Ban. This new Assault Weapons Ban is far more restrictive than the 1994 law she helped to pass. This new law will ban many popular handguns, rifles and shotguns and will require registration for most gun owners. Please get involved to stop this legislation now.

Greetings,

Due to the recent events at Sandy Hook elementary school we now face renewed threats to our Constitutional rights. While I understand how painful the loss must be for those touched by this tragedy, blaming firearms or their owners and punishing them is not the answer to the challenges we face as a nation.

We already have laws that were violated by a man who was likely psychotic and heavily medicated. This man was stopped by the mandatory background check from purchasing firearms. He then decided to murder his mother and take her legally owned firearms to commit this tragedy.

If your true goal is to protect our children, then enact legislation that will do that. Banning firearms that are rarely used in crime (less than 1% of the time) is not going to stop such tragedies, that was proven in 1999 when the Columbine shooting took place under the 1994 ban. Do something meaningful, please. Make committing the insane easier. Put armed security guards in our schools. But do not strip us of our rights and property by passing additional anti-gun laws that have historically had no positive effect on crime in our nation or others.

Thank you.

The NRA echos my concerns and gives more information on the proposed ban here:

there is not a chance in heck that any rep from my state would try to commit political suicide by signing onto any gun restriction bill.

Lots of backlash against gun control of late, I was pleased to see CBS evining news mention today that with gun sales way up, California has less shootings... just doesn't fit the liberal thinking. Have rights, keep rights!

Thanks for the info, Tim!

I for one will do whatever I can to help block this legislation.

Thanks guys for taking the time to look at the videos. I hoped it helped explain what could happen if the ban is passed with future concerns if it did.

Great link Tim, Im a fan of the MAC channel already, he does great reviews. I also sent an Email to the noted officials:thumbsup:

I wonder if this is supposed to fail, then they can pass one that is not as restrictive but still accomplishes a lot of the the same things. They are playing with psychology and the public apathy to get us on the slippery slope leading to there final goals.

This may be about the second amendment but how long until they remove all guns and go after the 1st amendment?

They want to ban just about everything but will settle for some things.
In typical political fashion the republicans will try to look good by only conceding a little.
They will try to say 'well we stopped mandatory registration from happening!'
But I fear will bow to a new assault weapon and hi cap mag ban.
