First thing that occurs to me is that it would need to be done by a coded welder. If the welds failed debris would at the very least end up amongst the clutch plates - nowhere else to go really. That could get messy..

Having just struggled with this I thought it might be worth sharing my experiences..
I decided to replace the failed dip bulb from below. Removing the instruments never seems like much fun.
Removing the panel directly below the headlights is plastic rivet tastic but that then gives easy access...
Is that what it’s called, I didn’t know.
It seemed a jump for this degree of wear to be responsible for the nasty clunk I was getting but it’s gone now..
It isn’t silent but it sounds normal.
