Looks to be a spacer behind the OE lifter assembly and shorter pillars. What’s achieved by doing the ‘mod’ or what does it overcome?

I did the work myself so I’m confident that all the parts are OE.

Having just struggled with this I thought it might be worth sharing my experiences.. I decided to replace the failed dip bulb from below. Removing the instruments never seems like much fun. Removing the panel directly below the headlights is plastic rivet tastic but that then gives easy access...

Is that what it’s called, I didn’t know. It seemed a jump for this degree of wear to be responsible for the nasty clunk I was getting but it’s gone now.. It isn’t silent but it sounds normal.
