how many miles per rear tire?

Eight thousand miles on my stock rear tire so far and still going strong.  Just a hint of tread indentions close to the center of the tire.  Hit the center wear bars a couple of thousand miles back.  Good tread on the sides.  One inch chicken strips.  Inspection comes up next month so I will...

    Busa riders weights

I weigh in at about 143.  That puts me in the lower 10% according to the poll.  Advantage?  Us light guys have the fastest accelerating Busas.  Seriously modded Busas excepted, of course.  Disadvantage?  Don't let it roll off that stand if you're alone. Stockerjo

What is the average age of a Busa rider?

Yo Sailor.  You're just beginning to get broken in.  With your helmet on, only you know that you're 48.  I'm 68.  When riding the Busa, I don't even know my age. Stockerjo

    WHO'S THE OLDEST RIDER HERE?

I'm 68.  Any other Busa riders exceed that?  I'm sure there are many cruiser riders that are older. stockerjo

Insurance for a busa in NEW YORK

2003 Busa in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY.  Paid $561.80 to State Farm for June 04 to June 05.  Rate based on engine displacement, and you must have a car insured with State Farm.  Also, premium reflects a $47.00 reduction for taking the MSF Rider Course. Stockerjo

The Hayabusa....a bike for the "ages"

Relax babuski.  Don't even think about how much more time you have to ride your Busa.  It's not even an issue at your young age.  I'm 68 and in the second year of riding my Busa.  I'll ride it until something breaks, in me, that is. Stockerjo

    touch up paint

Don't get the touch-up pen.  A disaster.  Like trying to apply the paint with your pinkie.  The orange was a tough color to get just right for me.  Too little paint, too light.  Too much, too dark.  But that was a year ago.  Maybe they got it right now.  Good luck. Stockerjo

    Read this...  Chicago Sun-Times Article

Cut Leslie some slack.  She's a former reporter obviously with an eye for a story.  Old habits are hard to break.  I love the colorful rhetoric:   "If we keep an ear out, we will know to keep an eye out. Lucky for them, their bikes are very noisy. Listen for a high-pitched whine that sounds...

    Fast Idle

Question for you experienced wrenchers and fellow Busa riders. I finally got around to attempting to adjust my fast idle on my 03 Busa per owners manual.  It says set at 3,500 rpm with engine fully warm.  Fast idle (choke) maxed out at 1,500 from the getgo.  On inspection, the fast idle cable...

Why is my oil light flickering on and off?????

Just a thought.  Suzuki recommends 10W-40 for the Busa.  Other weights OK if 10W-40 not available.  Your 20W-50 selection may be a touch too heavy to keep that oil light off all the time.  Also, 3.5 quarts is the amount with a filter change.  No filter change is 3.3 quarts.  Don't add any more...

For those who want the Hayabusa as their 1st bike

Speaking of maturity, I fill that bill, but in a different way from what you fellow Busa riders are speaking of, although I qualify for that too, somewhat.  My 03 Busa is my first and only sportbike and the only one I've ever  ridden.  At 67 years young, I may be the oldest Busa rider in the...

    ICON gear

I have the Icon TiMax gloves.  I like them, but I will only wear them on my cruiser.  To me, with all the metal and bulk, they don't look "sportbike", especially Busa.  They do require some work to get on and off with all the hinged parts/flaps and velcro. Stockerjo
