Does the running light come on when you turn the key to "ON"? If so, you may have a brake switch that is stuck and it's actually the brake light you're seeing, not the running light. Disconnect both brake switches one at a time and see if that solves it. Does the light get dimmer with the bike...

I can't remember the exact name but I have all leather Joe Rocket's and the fingers are perforated to allow air to cool your hands off.
