Mine had 17k when I bought it the original owner never changed it but it was BLACK! Didn't seem to affect the performance but I had it apart and changed it any way, real pain in the butt, though cleaning the glass if you wait until it gets that bad!

As long as you actually drive it and run it up to operating temp should be ok.  but don't run just the engine up to operating temp and shut it off.  There are different opinions on this so I tried it last Spring before I took out my "storage" oil.  I ran just the engine up to middle on the guage...

It sounds to me like "blow by" :sad: . Essentially the rings are letting compression "blow by " the cylinder over pressuring the crankcase and pushing oil out the vent and into the breather. This is a very bad symptom of a cooked engine. Either worn out, overheated and rings stuck or warped...

Depends on whether you have to stop driving or not, if not then Sierra has mentionned that.  But if you have to stop driving it for any length of time, it will depend on where it is stored.  i.e. in your living room would be ideal (controlled environment).  If it sits in a garage/shed/outdoors...
