Boosa Barry

I was born in the summer of 1969 and grew up on trail/dirt bikes getting the bikes that my older brother had. My first bike was a Honda Z50 when I was 5 years old, then I moved on to a 100cc enduro and then a Honda CR125 motocross. I rode quite a bit during my entire childhood and sold my bike when I was eighteen. About a quarter of a century went by with no motorcycles in my possession and then my girlfriend and I visited Mexico in 2011 & 2012 and seeing all of the cute little motorcycles that they have there rekindled my interest and so I began reading about motorbikes again online and buying magazines just because I wanted to. It wasn't long after that when I asked a co-worker if he still had that motorcycle that I had seen him ride a few years back and he said "yes". I asked him what it was and if it was for sale and a week later (6/8/12) I had a 2008 KLR 650 in my garage with 700 miles on it and $3000 dollars less in the bank. I felt like a kid again and at the age of 42 started riding again!!!!
I quickly learned how to get my "M" endorsement and did so 5 weeks later. I heard of a performance shop from a friend (Twisted Technology) here in town and eventually had them put a set of supermoto or street tires on my middleweight adventure bike and I noticed better performance on the street. Now that I’m hitting it harder than ever I wanted to go faster so I started looking for a sport bike to trade up for. I found a good deal (2/12/13) on a used ’04 Suzuki SV100S and paid nearly another $3000, but sold my KLR for $1800 about the same time.
It was fun but it wasn’t long after that I spent over $2000 more on D&D slip-ons, K&N air filter, Dynojet PCIII and a custom dyno tune, oh and another $1000 on LSL upright handlebars (long story). I was really enjoying the acceleration and it was then that I started learning about Hayabusa’s; being educated by the performance shop owner and realizing how awesome they are I knew I was sinking money in the wrong bike.
So just for fun I began window shopping for boosa’s and looked at some used ones. I knew I wanted a 2nd generation and one in good condition was not cheap, certainly more than three grand. I found some bikes I wanted for over $10,000 so the next thing ya know (5/31/13) I’m at a Suzuki dealer taking them up on their 0% financing for a brand new yeller limited edition 2013 with Brembo brakes. I traded in my SV for $1100. Yes not smart investing but it takes a while to find the bike you want. I love it and when I sit on it I don’t feel like I’m just sitting on top of the bike but rather I feel like I am fitting into the bike like a glove. I am now looking for a few mod’s for my brand new muh - sheeeen (sigh…. When will it ever end)
My only concern now is the Law and getting into trouble. I haven’t got any tickets yet nor have I had any issues (nock nock). I guess if I have to ever get out of the hot rod business I can always settle for another adventure bike. My next or 2nd bike will be a 2014 KTM 1190 Adventure. I’m permanently hooked!
