I have no idea what's wrong, but I've had four of these bikes and not one of them including the 08 has ever acted like you are describing.

Leather without armor inserts isn't much better. Always thought leather was good protection until I crashed and saw my skin tear at every contact point and the leather wasn't even scuffed up. I wear armor now.

It could also leak directly into the cylinder without getting into the oil passages, but that should be noticeable in the exhaust or at least with a couple rev ups you will see black water spots hitting the driveway.

Hitting the kill switch also causes the temp needle to go to hot as long as its in that position. Some sort of a default mechinism.

I've had all four of them pegged and always felt that the bike was under control. The only wind problem was the noise. It sounds like being in the exaulst of a jet engine.
