Both the Q5 and Q5s are DOT legal tires. The Q5s does have extra water sipes on the edge of the tire while the Q5 is full slick on the edge. Both tires are designed for track day enthusiasts and dry performance. The Q5s are built different to be lighter and quicker transitions from left to right. It is not just a "street" version of the Q5. Not even close it is a very different tire all together. Below is a great article on both tires. They are kind of like the Q3 and Q3+.
