Strange case

Yesterday I was making my way through a 6+ page thread
regarding a disagreement between Creekboy * USMCbusa.
Mid way through (as I'm reading it) the thread disappears.
I page backwards, no thread. I try looking for it, its gone.
I also notice that a related thread by Creekboy detailing
phone calls threatening violence against him and his family
is also suddenly gone.(The threats were board related??)

I started a thread asking why the missing threads. Very similar
to this one. That thread has also disappeared. With no Warning
or explanation.
I originally posted about this in part to bring attention to the fact
that some one may be maliciously deleting posts.

I understand (may not agree with but understand) why threads
with pornographic intent are deleted. I think its hypocritical
that Fugg & biotch are OK but the obviously intended words
aren't. If yer kid can read them you've already failed yer
attempts to "protect" them.

I think it is wrong to just arbitrarily delete posts because
you dislike the poster or you disagree with what is said.
Any time a thread is deleted at the very least an explaination
should be given.

I wonder how long this one will last?

I agree 100%, deleting posts or threads because you don't like what was said or something isn't "popular" is something that has been happening more and more. Lot's of threads that are gone I'm glad to see em' go, alot of others starts becoming suspect.

So some folks are arguing, being childish big whoop... let em' be childish...

Anyhoo, Raider, I dunno what to tell ya except I'll let ya except I let folks know when I am deleting things... It's just polite.

thigns are going to settle down though, no worries.

I suspect that the threads related to yesterdays events were deleted becuase there was no way to keep them under control - which wouldn't be bad, except remember that USMCbusa is still trying to get resolution and the threads and bashing and personal attacks were not helping him make headway. With the threads in place, even locked, others kept posting new topics and the whole thing would begin to flare up again. I agree with you, that posts and threads should not be deleted, however, I believe that was all done in the best interests of a member who was still trying to accomplish something.

I think that is why USMCbusa posted a thread asking all to just let things die to give him a chance to work things out.... he asked us all to back off. Maybe the threads can be put back, I don't know.... but with some of the stuff being posted - we weren't helping him recover what he had lost....

The MODs have a tough job don't they? They're put in a position to decide what is best for the board, not each individual. It's Doug's sandbox, we just play in it.

Majority of the threads that were deleted were deleted by me...

When I start seeing a situation I believe getting out of hand (and yes.. it is totally subjective to my interpretation as to what I consider out of hand) I try to control the situation by removing posts or threads that I think or feel will continue to fuel a fire that might be trying to be put out

Yesterdays events got way out of hand... usmcbusa who has basically been the victim in all this even felt it went to far over the edge.

and when it is all said and done.. this issue was strictly between creekboy, usmcbusa and maybe the mods and admins since we were getting complaints and the board was involved

If it was true that Mick was getting phone calls threatening himself and his family over this. that is BS...


So as far as I know.. I was the one that probably deleted every single thread yesterday. No one else.. I am fully responsible and to blame.. and the reasons I just stated are my reasons…

And as long as I am a mod.. I will continue to try and curb situations I deem to start get out of control…

Peaceful discussions are one thing.. but when real threats are being made on the board AND in real life..

And when you have a situation as serious as this Creekboys integrity being questioned, his daughters accident being questioned as to if it really happened or not. These are serious implications.. and I am not choosing sides. I am not saying Creekboy is or isn’t upfront about everything.. that is his business.

Regardless, the entire situation was serious and people were either making uncalled for remarks, choosing sides without knowing ALL the information which I can tell you most people do NOT know all the facts.

And the bottom line is to try and get usmcbusa his plastics back. Attacking creekboy and pissing him off was not helping in that endeavor.

Usmcbusa, how has the parts at stake even made a post asking everyone to back off creekboy and give him another chance to make it right.

Basically it started to become a feeding frenzy like it often does around here and that is when I will step in and try to "Moderate" the situation.

So I accept full responsibility for all threads being deleted yesterday.. and probably some today… and probably more tomorrow…

I did wish one thread was not deleted. it was the one creekboy created stating he was in contact with the guy who bought his bike, and he was getting the plastics back on Sunday and would have the plastics in the mail on Monday to usmcbusa..

I think RSD deleted that thread. I wish that one was kept.. Jeremy never got to see it.... and it was in black and white from creekboy himself that he was going to get usmcbusa his parts to him by next week

Sooo I wish that thread was still here. but I didnt delete that one...

For the most part you mods do a good job.
For the other part, well I don't have to agree or like it.

On MY disappearing thread, I never got to see the responses so
I dunno how bad it got. It wasn't intended as a bash on one side
or the other.
To be honest I thought a different MOD had deleted them. I didn't even
know you were a mod.

Anyway thanks for the explaination.

I posted a thread about A boy some nails and a fence in referance to what happened with creekboy it was not in anyway disrupted or instagating (even though i am at fault sometimes) It was about calming the situation down basiclly saying people shouldnt throw insults in anger...Any idea why it got deleted???

Actually that was another one I DIDNT touch.. I was kind of looking for that one myself.. I needed it for something else in my life.. So I had to do a search on the internet.

But nope.. didnt delete that one either. I would have left that one

One thing I learned in the IT business. Move.... Don't delete. Guys you should be moving these threads to a forum that us mortals do not have access to. You might need them sometime.

One thing I learned in the IT business. Move.... Don't delete. Guys you should be moving these threads to a forum that us mortals do not have access to. You might need them sometime.

That actually was brought up last week between us mods and admin

We already have a forum that only mods and admins can see (that is where we plot behind everyones backs muah ha ha.. cough cough)

anyway... it was mentined about creating a forum that only us mods and admins could see that we could move threads to..

I think it is a good idea... but I dont have the power to set that up.. so we will see..

Personally... I used to really enjoy this site... anymore it seems I just get irritated about various things that never used to be an issue... and have to leave before I post up something I will regret.
