Stator

I removed my stator cover to inspect the stator and crank sensor and I saw metal shavings on the sensor and the stator has some discoloration on the windings. I've been having trouble getting it to turn over. Will crank of course but won't start and no spark. What would you recommend I do

Can you post up some pics?
How old is your battery?
Maybe a failing battery overloaded the charging system and it got extra hot as a result. Discoloration is a clear indicator of excessive heat.
