Well, I thought I was careful enough. First time I ever used PayPal and I got scammed BIG TIME. I don't know if I went to a bogus site or what but someone got a hold of my credit card info and had a field day. FUGGIN' BASTIDS.
I caught it about 10 minutes after it started and notified PayPal and the credit card company. Guess it wasn't fast enough. Paypal froze account and the credit company security section called me this morning and advised "they think someone was fraudulently using my account". I said "yeah, no ####, I contacted you last night to cancel the account after I saw the bogus charge". They said there were about 50 charges.... NICE. Dating services, porn sites, computer company,. etc.. Great, bust my butt for the credit I have and some low life bag of #### scams me.
Looking forward to working with fraud investigations on this one. If they would give me a name and address, I'd be happy to handle the rest...
Be Safe.

Don't be to sure that it was Paypal?? I was hit with the Visa break in a month back. Turns out it was from Gas station sending info over the lines that were not secure.

time for retna scans from the computer or at least finger prints.

Sorry to hear.
Download the ebay toolbar. It lights up green whenever you are on ebay or paypal site, and will let you know when you are on a fake.

That sucks......

Oh man...not good. Ive been using paypal for a few years now with ho issues, and the only scam Ive encountered is the darn "Paypal FEE'S" - but that is another subject. So was it paypal that scamed you, or the person you forwarded money to via paypal?

Watch out for those "ebay" outbid notice e-mails or cancelled bid notices. That is how many scammers phish for login information. You get a strange e-mail purportedly from ebay about how your bid has been cancelled. Then you hit the link and it looks like eBay's login page. When you look at the address bar though you will see that it is a site in the 166...range. If you type your login and password there you will be given a error message to type it again then you are redirected to the actual eBay customer services page. Pretty tricky to catch it.
I just type fu**youscammer in the UserId field.
and su**myd**k in the Password field.
I get a chuckle out of it everytime.

When ever your going to use pay pal at least type in a wrong password 2 times if it lets you in it's a fake if not then you should be ok.

That sucks thats why i never follow links anymore i get in email i go to the site directly and log in then i know i shouldn't get hit with a false one

I think it was my bad when updating PayPal with new card info.. They canceled old card due to security reasons...
I went to www.paypal.com and updated so the donation to the .Org wouldn't have any problems.
Is it https//www.paypal.com or http//www.paypal.com? At any rate I don't think I was at a real Paypal site.
The first charge was through paypal to cachexpress.com for a server and I caught it 7 minutes after it happened. I have gotten that charge rectified already. I guess they just started using my card number for the rest because I froze Paypal. I told credit card company to freeze account within 10 minutes. I don't know why they didn't.
And I didn't trust anyone before!

Any paypal email I get, I immediately send to abuse@paypal.com (Their email for reporting fraud sites/spam)

I get an email back in a few moments as to whether or not it's legit or not. Also, if you have any concerns, mouseover the link (or view source in HTML emails) and you can see where they go to.

The most fun I had was one someone had set up on an VTX1800 fansite somewhere... and used the domain as the redirect address. I reported it to the site webmaster, PayPal, and the FBI. The entire domain was down inside of fifteen minutes.

I hear ya' man. Boy, that fuggin sucks. Probably some 15 year old kid. Intelligent, bored, given the world by his parent(s)...sucks, boy. Sucks big time. Hope they get this cleaned up.

Have had no trouble with Paypal and

no luck with fraud investigators.

My X took out a visa in my name (divorce for 8 years now, she got it in April of this year).

They have her COLD (3rd time too!) and nothing is being done about it!

Fuggin investigators.
