Oil pressure light

During a 700 mile run at the weekend, the oil warning light came on whilst travelling on the motorway at 80. I pulled over but the light gradually dimmed and had gone out by the time I stopped. Oil level was checked and was OK, continued on my journey. Next day when bike was warming up the light came on again but then disappeared after a few seconds. This has not happened before, bike runs OK, regularly serviced by dealer,13500 miles covered, temp runs normal, oil level fine. Have I done serious damage to engine? Any ideas on the problem? Thanks.

If there are no noises in the engine and the light just comes on randomly, you may have a defective oil pressure switch. What Grade oil do you use? I've seen the 10-40 oil turn the light on after hard run at idle here in the heat of Florida.

Have the oil pump dropped and the pick up screen cleaned/replaced and you may need a new oil pump...Do not delay...
