30 years of drag racing... I am pretty used to the $1000-3000 weekend (I am now a reformed and healed drag racer) I am showing some resistance to that infection and think I may even have some immunity to it now...
I would never consider it "out the window" money, racers get to do what many would love to and will never get the chance... 170+ across the water? 200+ on black top? that is an addiction
