SO i bought the bike a few weeks ago and was doing some general looking over the other day and noticed a masterlink on the chain. Now correct me if im wrong but i was told to NEVER use a masterlink on anything over 750cc as its just not strong enough. It looked to me as if their was rtv over the clip side of the link to possibly stop some sort of slipping or vibration. Would it make sense to take this link out and have someone rivet in a masterlink? The chain has 400 miles on it. and lastly, its a high end RK chain, will ANY companies masterlink work? Thanks!!!

You will find that there are some that will use a clip-style masterlink, especially those who goto the track a lot and may go between a 'stretch' and stock length.
That said, I would never run a clip-masterlink...but that is my preference.
My opinion, I would replace with a rivet-masterlink. And I would get one that matches the chain - you want to try to stay with the same tensile-strength - as the rest of the chain - on the masterlink.
If you don't have someone local that could match one up for ya, contact one of the Board Sponsors - they can get one for ya

I gather the bike is used. Suzuki says only use a rivited link on the Busa. I know there are a few guys on here running clip on links, but I wouldn't trust it. Replacing that master link is cheap and IMHO you need to do it sooner rather than later. Chances are that if the chain has a clip on link, its rating is lower than recommended for the Busa and it will stretch quikly and need replacement sooner. At least that's what I found when the dealership put a cheep azz clip chain on my Busa last year. I made them replace the link, but the chain only laster 5,000 miles. I normally get 20,000 miles out of a chain.
I use clip master. Never any problem in 20 years. I would never recommend it to anyone tho..

is this a smaller chain size than stock? i was under the impression that they don't make 530 chains with clip masterlinks anymore
Leave it I do the rtv on link on every chain as it will allow you to walk by and inspect it without even touching it.If you ever look down and don't see the rtv,check for clip being gone.Old Timer Trick...
They also make a screw type that's pretty strong and doesn't require a tool
