K&N are the worst air filters....I have heard many say you lose horsepower with the K&N......The stock filter is better than K&N....I think BMC are the best...I have an after market exhaust on my 2006 put on and Power commander III mapped by the dealer. It has a stock air filter on it. If I go with the K&N Air Filter will I need to go with a new map or will it be Ok as it is?

I've had K&N and BMC, and in a few bikes.
Compare them side by side and the only difference you can see is the color.
Compare the race filter to the standard, and the race version is about 2/3 the thickness.
Many times the comment comes up as to how hp is lost with a K&N...yet the evidence never surfaces.
Don't belive everything you hear.
ya, i hear ya...i could see how it would be possible if you WAY over oiled the filter.
I have BMC race....
