It's that kind of thing that is the reason I don't even like to ride Angeles Crest even in a car. At least the concentration of fools seems to be there, and much less so in the Santa Monica mountains.
So did you react with the bike at all? I'm betting you stayed calm the extra fraction of a second that allowed the thing to play out.
