Foot pegs Interchangable?

Hey all, Are the footpegs interchangeable between Gen I and Gen II?

Ok they are interchangeable. But what purpose does this serve? Other than one footpeg might be broken and you happen to have an extra one laying around.
Personal preference? Weight savings?
Just wondering!!

I'm looking at dressing her up a lil. I was looking online and found foot pegs listed for 99-07. In pics they looked the same, just wanted to be sure.
