Afraid of dying on a motorcycle?

I've always found it a bit comical when some cycle hater is lecturing me on the dangers of my chosen hobby. It's as if they are somehow immune to any unfortunate event simply because they choose not to engage in such a reckless and suicidal behavior like motorcycle riding. Whatever. We are all at risk in some way 24/7, so please don't lecture me as you smugly walk down a city street inattentively chatting on your cellphone before reaching that high, towering multi-level parking garage where your automobile awaits you for the drive home on the crowded freeway. National Safety Council "Odds of Dying" Statistics

OK, off rant.

It says you are more likely to go out and die by hanging your self then by riding a motorcycle.

Someone actually gets paid to gather all this data and crunch the numbers? What does this info get used for, insurance rates??

I hate stats, ever since I took stats in college and learned how made up they are

25% fact 75% twisted fatcs

I know I just used a stat to combat a stat, ironic??

Anyway, everyone dies. Do you live scared in your house and not live at all. Or do you get wild and crazy risking life at any time. I'm somewhere in the middle, I want to have fun, but I want to live a little while longer also...

Some of those "Stats" are Wild!
I would never believe my Odds of dyeing from Exposure to smoke, fire and flames, X00-X09 or was greater than riding a Motorcycle. Or being a Car occupant, V40-V49 was 4.5 times higher! WoW!
Thanks for that Link!

this one cracks me up.

Reminds me of the statistician who drowned while crossing a river with an average depth of 3 ft.

i suck at stats. so... the LOWER the number, the higher the risk, correct?

[lazy man's version]

As my Stat Professor in College said," Give me your question; tell me the answer you want and I will give you the Stats you are looking for"
