A new route to a strong America?

We don't have two parties. We have two wings of the same party, and its funding comes from businesses that can afford to spend billions in order to conduct their activities. Look to Europe if you want to see a multi-party system, rabid communists, facists and anarchists are the norm there. Calling the current administration socialist is an insult to socialism!
We are a democracy in name only, our government treats us as if we are too stupid to do anything about it, and we let them. They have successfully divided us down ethnic, social, religious and economic lines, and while we bicker amongst ourselves over trivial differences they do what they want with our money and in our name. We only have ourselves to blame for the constantly worsening situation in this country.
Term limits and removal of lobbyists is a good place to start.

Problem is and will always be that to enact any sort of change would involve Congress and the Senate voting on it...vicious cycle...

No special health care... Let them stand in the lines and pay into the system just like everyone else...

No special retirement, let them pay into their own 401k and manage it and worry about it like everyone else.

No self appointed pay raises, hell I didnt get a raise for 4 years because of the cost of living increases. once again let them feel the pain....

Whether a new party or an old party. "We the People" Need to wake up and take back our country, by starting with elections and term limitations.

You got it half right. The latter half does no good with poor voting decisions, and prohibits free choice with good decisions.

For better or for worse, Kennedy'd offices are the only legitimate choice. If the people make poor decisions, time after time after time, let them suffer the consequences.

If they manage to find a good politician, don't force them to give him up before the expiry date of his honesty.

We do have a new party, the Tea Party. The main stream media wants all of us to see the Tea Party as a bunch of right wing radicals. The left and the media are making up lies because they fear the Tea Party. I see that some people are falling for the lies and that is unfortunate. The Tea Party wants to out lying republicans and democrates. The Tea Party wants to get good honest constitutional following conservatives elected. Republicans and democrates who have been lying and cheating the American people will soon be out of a job if the Tea Party has anything to do with it. The first law that needs to go into effect would be something like:

No lobbying. Period.

This was a great topic in our philosophy class. Its much easier said then done though. There is good lobbying, and bad lobbying depending on what side your on.

Example.

Company A is making parts. Company B and C are also making the same parts. Companies A, B, and C get rid of the waist of the after parts by throwing it into the river. Company A decides he wants to change the way he's polluting the river, and decidees he's going to make it better for the surrounding people who drink from this water.

Company A has two options. Change the way he pollutes which would be a bit more expensive and thus giving him a price disadvantage between the other two companies which would eventually run him out of business.

Or A can lobby to the government and explain how they should change the environmental rules, and every company should follow the same rules and not pollute.

On the other hand, you have whats going on the majority of the time where companies are only lobbying for their own interests and noone elses.

Unfortunately, some continually win multiple terms...I don't see anything wrong with limits like we have on the Presidential seat...what would be the downside to a continual turnover of new blood and fresh eyes and integrity?

well said. an amendmend to the constitution would be required for a real limit 8 years 12 or whatever. instead of all that trouble the locals need 2 get up and vote for what they feel is best. although you may have to vote between a turd sandwhich and a giant douche.

we will never see a dominant third party in this country until the electoral college is either changed for completly removed. but i would vote against a true democratic election for the president. (i somewhat agree with plato when he said people are either too dumb or too cruel for democracy to work, true dem that is) even if the electoral process is changed for presidental election i doubt this country will EVER see a dominant third party. certainly not in our lives or our childrens lives.

i think we need to continue talking like this and get out and vote and hope for the best. and not all lawyers are crooks. but i plan on applying to law school with in the next 2 years so i am biased i suppose
