(July 2008 Cycle World)

--2008 ZX-14
163.7 hp
9.97 @ 146.19MPH in the quarter mile
100MPH to 180MPH in 14.73 sec

--2008 Hayabusa
173.4 hp
9.90 @ 147.94MPH in the quarter mile
100MPH to 180MPH in 13.26 sec

I know everybody wants to race from a roll nowadays because nobody knows how to ride a bike or drive a car. Like previously stated it will come down to rider and weight will play a small portion.

I was wanting to get some opinions on which bike you think is faster. The Gen.1 busa or the ZX-14. I have a guy I work with that just purchased a 07 ZX-14 and all that he has done to it so far is the remove the flies. He has been asking me to race him in a roll on but I have never raced a 14 before. So honestly I have no clue. I am a fairly decent rider.
I own both a first gen busa and an 06 14. There's no doubt stock for stock the 14 is quicker overall....but it also has 13 or so more ponies  If your bikes stock, and his flies are out, he's going to have you pretty much covered if you guys are fairly equal riders and weights. But if you're piped and/or geared down it will be much closer
He only wants to race because he has an advantage ??? Tell him to race a 2nd gen busa with the same new technology as his and see how his attitude changes :laugh:

Stock bike against stock bike with comparable riders the ZX14 will win. However in the real world the bikes are never modded the same and the riders are never the same. The way to beat the ZX14 is to start at a very low speed or at a stand still. Even with his flies out the ZX14 doesnt run well until 4 to 5 thousand RPM unless he has a power commander installed. Weight and gearing are very close but the ZX14 has more horsepower. Of course, if you are racing my ZX14 none of the above matters...you lose...ha !!! j/k j/k (no flames pleez)

The Busa really doesn't get started until 4K either.

Probably whoever gets the jump, but what I'm hearing is the 14 is modded. So go ahead and get the cams and pistons and tell him it's on with your stock  Busa
