I need some help guys with a fitment question on Yoshimura exhausts---- I have already email Yoshimura and am also waiting on a reply from them.

There is a full R-77 system I am looking at (model # 1121002) that is for a Gen II 2008-2009 busa... Will this system still fit my '06 Gen I ??? I know that body style changed somewhat but engines overall didn't--at least not that I know of (as far as header dimensions and such)...so would the system fit a gen I or is the routing of the exhaust so different that it wouldn't??? I am going to buy this system IF it will fit so can those of you that are our exhaust pro's tell me for sure if it will ??? Thanks in advance for the help as always y'all....

If anyone can give me a definite answer I will greatly appreciate it-- I want to buy this full system if it will work so I'm :please: that you can also fit it to the Gen I.... anybody able to help a brother out??

Yoshi emailed me back and said no-go on the fitment.... I know some designs are interchangeable or maybe just take a little modding so if anybody still has any TRUE info let me know...sometimes the manufacturer just looks at the book and has no real world experience (especially with one particular bike/model) so if anybody has some real info as to whether I could still use this on my '06 let me know... thanks y'all:thumbsup:

I can't say for sure either, and someone correct me if I'm wrong(You've got a better chance of someone correcting me than answering you:laugh:) but, as far as I know. The gen2 engine is only changed internally, and the frame is the same. If I had to GUESS, I would say the only real difference is where the muffler would bolt to the passenger peg(pegs and subframe are different from gen1 to gen2). I think the rectifier is in a different location too, which is bolted near the bottom of the reasr shock, and close to the end of the header. A relocation bracket is available.
If I had a gen1 and wanted the R-77 gen2 I would buy it and fab something myself to make it work. I don't think it would be a great undertaking. I don't know what you are capable or willing to do either, but it won't just bolt up. You could at least buy it from somewhere that would let you return it, that way you could hold it to the bike(with your exhaust removed)and see if the modification needed to make it work is something you'de be willing to do. Sorry I couldn't give you a more deffinate answer. Someone more familiar with what's compatable between the two will eventually see your post and give you more facts. Good luck, it is a great lookin exhaust.

Thanks for the opinion sixpack577--- see, I agree with you too and am leaning the same way...just don't see how there could be that much difference between the Gen I and II....as far as exhaust header dimensions and such...but I haven't measured either... I am hoping that someone with both bikes can give me some insight... only difference could possibly be with header routing under the bottom but it looks as though from mid-pipe and up the bikes are the same... thanks for your input bud...

It WILL NOT FIT! The gen II header also has a bung for the O2 sensor. I did have an R77 system on my gen I but switching over to gen II now. Had to buy a new header and midpipe. If you want the parts list to make a gen I system let me know.

R77 on a Gen I looks killer.........and very rare!

No photoshop either! Sounds killer and made great power!

Dont know, I didnt even attempt to put it on. I do know the gen I midpipe will not fit the gen II header so there is also a size difference.

Did you want the R77 system for the look of the muffler, or for the bigger head pipes? if its just for the muffler you can get them from yosh and they fit the mid pipe on a genI system. If you have another system on your busa it may work if the mid is a 2 1/4".

Can someone with a yoshimura R-77 system-- FULL system with stainless header, carbon sleeved pipe, carbon tip measure the "MID-PIPE" on both ends---where the pipe connects and also where the mid-pipe connects to the header and give me the measurements??? I'm trying to see if possibly the mid-pipe would fit onto my Muzzy header.... the outside diameter measurement of the mid-pipe on the muffler end is probably going to be different from where it mates up to the header so I'll need both measurements--- thanks for the help in advance, Chris

Mid pipe from a Gen2 is where most problems will be. since the bends in it are to match the gen2 headers and the muffler angle to the hanger on the gen2.

yeah I know strife...I've got access to a muffler shop and some talent there who might be able to modify the bend for me IF the mid pipe on this system will mate up with my Muzzy header....or one of the other guys said he believed that IF my muzzy mid-pipe was 2 1/4" outside diameter measurement on the muffler end, the R-77 muffler would fit on the Muzzy mid-pipe. Measured when I got home and the Muzzy mid-pipe is definitely 2 1/4" on the muffler end... still want to get those measurements from somebody with the system though to see what I need to be on both ends of the mid-pipe...:beerchug:

You gotta have a 4-1 header and then a custom fabricated mid-pipe to any 08+ exit can. I'm going with an R55. I'm finding out it's really not that difficult for a specialist with that exhaust pipe bending machine. I'm doing this exact mod right now. I'll post pics when I'm done.

That's the route I'm thinking I may have to go too Black Sheep... I am trying to think outside the box on this too...I've got the Muzzy 4-2-1 header and I'm really thinking that if the yosh mid-pipe will mate up to my muzzy header I may be able to get my mechanic with the bending machine to alter the bend to make it work....

Can anyone give me the measurements I am asking for in the above posts??? Also, where the mid-pipe connects onto the header, does the mid-pipe slide over the header end OR does the mid-pipe slide INSIDE the header end??
Thanks for the assistance in this y'all....

Yes, I am eating lunch, I will got out and measure it in a bit,(15 minutes)
