I'm just wondering who benefits from junk email or spam? Companies I know that use spam blockers, block about 85% of all incoming email as spam.

Surely, SOMEONE must get something out of it, or they would not do it.
Ima freak and never appriciate any type of advertising. I never look at anything until I want it, then I do my research and get what I want - not what they want to sell me. I'm the worst consumer ever, and bad for America probably
Anywho, one spammer I know put it this way: "It costs me nothing, ZERO to send email to 1 million people. If just ONE of them responds, and I make $100, that's 100 more in sales than I would have had"
It just seems too fruitless. Especially these ones with no message, no subject, no real address, no link, no nothing... but those prove the email exists and then it gets on a list to be sold
