Since I'm having to tear the motor down to replace a $4 pushrod seal I might as well do something else as well... what are your suggestions?

As a side question what all actually has to be broken down to access it? I wouldn't need to remove the cylinders and what not from the top half of the motor right? I would think I flip the motor and remove the bottom half.
 
I would replace the shift shaft detent spring. They break from time to time. If your splitting the cases, i would look at the trans gear engaging teeth. Especially 2nd gear. Make sure there in good shape. Thats about all i can think of.
