What would you guys have told me?

Started on mini-bikes at 5
driving and plowing with tractors at 10
driving stick 4x4's by 12
Have owned a rd400 a gs550 and too many dirt bikes to mention
Spent the last 2.5 years and 6k miles on a 1700cc Road Star Warrior playing in the socal canyons
am I ready for a busa ?

I think only you can answer that question. I think anytime spent on a dirtbike is well worth the time, and everyone should spend a few years on one.

I'd say you have the experience.  But less than 3,000 miles a year.  You need to get out and ride.  The Busa does not like to be ignored.

I didn't ask as I felt i was ready. Learned respect from high siding the gs550.
I have had my busa goin on 3 months or so now and have said "if there is a better bike than this , I sure don't know about it"
