How can i separate the 01 from the 02 model?

The 1999 and 2000 year models were "The Fast Ones"... they came from the factory without the speed restrictions that the later years had.

The difference between a 2001 and a 2002 is minimal at best.... there may have been an upgrade to the starter on the 2002... but I honestly can not remember.

There have been suttle changes over the past 7 - 8 years.... nothing really major.

However, for some reason, the Red ones seem to be much faster than any other color.

Color scheme. All else is the same. '99 & '00 came unrestricted and with 220mph speedo. '01 and newer are restricted from factory and come with the 185mph speedo.

they did change subframes from aluiminum to steel but not sure what year.

The graphics and colors are different....01 has black mid pipes and 02 has the new style.
99-00 have the 220 speedo and aluminum subframes...also no speed limiter

Starters were upgraded in 03

Thanks guys i wanted something more specialisation,i know all about the speed limiter,the 185 speedo,the differences at the pipes and the subframe,also that radiators are in an unpainted metal.

OK the 2001 models have the interal pump like the 02 but still have the 16 bit computers like the 99-00 model and then the other things you had mentioned

I've always though of the 2001 model busa as the ####### child of the Generation since it was in the major trasition point

2002 32bit cpu

And paint, 2002 has black and blue, the fastest color!!
