What octane?

OK we did this once before, but no problem.

A stock bike will run excellent on 87 octane.
It will run no diffeent on 89 octane, but 89 wmay make you feel better.
Anything elese in Stock will run fine but it is a waste of money.

As you make performance mods (Xtreme mods) then you will need a higher Octane to slow the burn rate. It does not increase performance, it eliminates knock and detonation on a big bore or Turbo.

93 Octane big bore and Turbo
High end 200 mmph runs 104 octane.

Mike........I know you are the engine mod man, but, I always run 93.........just because it burns cleaner.

I always run super(can't remember octane # right now) I figure I can afford 5 gallons at a time.

Your right Bro, but it depends on the state. Lots of regular gas is oxygenated, and some has cleaners in it. I look at it the same way. I noticed a big difference in stock performance even between New England states. Burning high octane sure does not hurt, so it comes down to what ever you are comfortable with. I wish I could find 104 all the time.

:D :D

I run 104 when we go to the track......(1/4 mile). My buddy works at a local Kaw shop and he can get us a full tank for free from time to time. Usually every friday night in the summer time.

higher octane, slower burn.
stock engine/couple mods, slower burn, less complete combustion, more crap not burning therefore more carbon.

i have always been running Chevron 93, might give the lower octane a try since my fuel mileage has decreased.

have a tre, drilled out stock pipes, small airbox mod,,,hauls the mail with 87 octane..feels funny putting it in..but works fine..
no pinging no knock..does roll on roll off roll on wheelies at 5000' elevation....all the way though first...25 to 75 on the back wheel when everthing clicks just right. could not ask for more..pure love gang..Busa Rocks.
