This is in reference to Roethlisberger

This is the Ferrari Enzo of motorcycles. A machine with a higher power-to-weight ratio than virtually anything on four wheels, it is capable of running to 60mph in less than three seconds -- and from there to a top speed in excess of 175mph.

Like other high performance sport bikes the 'Busa is designed for expert riders who have developed the skill set crucial to keeping such a machine safely under control. It is not a good choice for a first bike.

But because such bikes are relatively inexpensive, almost anyone can afford one, including "newbie" riders who may be getting in way over their heads. A new Hayabusa GSX1300R similar to the one Roethlisberger was riding, for example, lists for $11,299, about the price of a used Toyota Corolla.

This isn't to slam top-tier sport bikes like the 'Busa or its Kawasaki, Yamaha or Honda competitors. In the hands of skilled rider, they're no more dangerous than an F-14 fighter is with an experienced combat pilot at the stick.

But no one's ready to fly a Tomcat without first mastering a Piper Cub, and the same goes for high-strung sport bikes.

Don,
Is that in the new edition? I feel the need to write a letter - I agree with this letter (at least the idea behind it)...

I think everyone should be relegated to 49cc scooters until the pass a week-long, 24/7 evaluation of their common sense.

This would also be a good way to choose who gets to go Earth 2.

Even a experienced fighter pilot without common sense or responsiblity can crash. Busa's only go as fast as you make them go.

which magazine and date did you pull this from, just curious as I'm in the navy. Wanted to put it up on the bulkhead in my barracks.

This is a part of the story about what you need to know before you buy a motorcycle right? It is also in the Air Force Times, i was reading it last night and wasnt happy with what i was reading. I think i'm going to send in a response to this guy to remind him that it wasnt Big Bens, Ferrari Enzo of motorcycles, or his lack of wearing a helmet, his lack of experience, his lack of a motorcycle endorsment or the fact that he was doing 35 mph in very light traffic. It was the 60+ year old lady that pulled out in front of him! This guys story is probably the 4th story i've read about his accident, and they all turn the table on him, as well as add that he was on a busa. He could have been on a moped!

its in the most current "military" Times... its part of a article that is supposed to be "what you need to know before you buy a motorcycle".

Funny in the way the writer compaired the tomcat with a piper cub (prop job). When I was getting my pilots license over 10 years ago, I was talking to a Air Force pilot at the airport. He wanted to get his pilot license because always wanted to fly an airplane with a propeller! Our pilots have never flown a Prop Job!!!!
