What is your profession ?

I drove for a living for about 6 years, but only around 150k miles total.
I did 40 states OTR driving flatbed for TMC.
Then local for several companies.
I really enjoyed it, but all the texting and driving idiots eventually burnt out my patience. I don't miss the hassle.
If I was single with no kids, I think I'de find a drop and hook coast to coast job.
Fortunately I have the job that I do now.

Is that
like your
5th job ?

Laugh out loud *

QC lab tech for last 4 years.
I measure/inspect some of the incoming and outgoing parts for production.
Basically a big production machine shop in the automotive field, making fuel and ac valves. Employs 200+ at this location.
I have free run of the plant, 1 boss(QC manager) then the plant manager.
I use measuring equipment in the QC lab, or about the plant as needed.
I work days mon-friday with a set but flexible schedule, in a very laid back setting, and live 3 miles away. With great pay, vacation and benefits.
Coming from being a mechanic, factory worker/machine operator, truck driver, delivery driver, and community college drop out, having worked all days, hours, and shifts, I truly have it made and love my job.
I thank God for it.
I consider myself truly blessed.

Six , isn't that your current Suzuki in the 1st pic ? So you do ride that 3 miles to work bro ? :D:)

Interesting to see what everyone does, cool thread.

I worked for my dad in his factory (+- 400 employees) school holidays since I was 9 years old. He taught me woodwork, steel work and by the age of 11 I could weld, run milling machines, lathes etc.

Then he kicked me out, worked for Mercedes Benz, from an apprentice, to college to Automotive Engineer.
Life takes us where it wants, so I ended up running several large beverage factories for a fortune 10 company. Ended up as a consultant for a large food manufacturing company, doing the US, Europe, Australia, Mexico and Canada.
Then retired, so now I am a nobody.
Still do woodworking on the side though, when I want if I like the customer. One of my pieces posted below.

Exquisite work , you are certainly a master craftsman jellyrug , that is a beautiful piece !!

At the beginning:

Electronics technician
Warehouse manager
Field Tech with NCR
Field Tech / Systems analyst with Fuji Xerox
Emergency Services (Govt Dept) team lead for field techs and call center IT
Tech specialist and state co-coordinator for a global Travel Company

In the middle and part time work: Retired now, getting too old and too many phones with cameras..
Crowd Controller (our official name given to bouncers to make them more personal ..lol..)
Close Personal protection escort
Instructor / trainer in the above fields

Network Engineer for the past 7 years with the current company. Not your typical everyday IT department. In charge of company owned vessel tracking worldwide, Satellite Communications for remote locations on job sites, and supporting the day to day IT operations of 8 worldwide offices between two of us. Underpaid? I'd say so. I get to play with cool IT toys while I set them up for others, guess thats a benefit. I like a fast paced environment that keeps the brain occupied.

Only level 1 though...……:poke:
well... its a super ultra bike that has been flawless for almost 2 years now.... maybe ill have him pour some c16 in it and see whats what... I got my RETRO check coming... they owe us for 3 years backpay.... WAITING PATIENTLY... FOR A LONG TIME.

Its amazing the team we could put together here . Just imagine a it !

A little more back ground on my job . Started out life little education , and did very labor intensive work .
Rod buster = Tying steel reinforcements for concrete tilt wall . Took this job for the sign on bonus , and was the only white guy . Passed on a job interview for my current job because I had cashed the $500 sign on bonus.
A year later with a massive hernia I went to the guy who offered me a job interview for fire alarm work .
They were still hiring so went to a interview . Owner , and operations manger asked what did I know about electronics . My response was if I open the hood on my car the Red goes on the plus sign + , and the black goes on the negative - . They asked me to wait outside . I thought to my self ya you didnt get this job .
A few minutes later the OP asked me to come back into the owners office . He informed me I was hired , and when could I start . My reply was right now sir ! They said be here tomorrow @ 8 a.m. Your start pay will be $10 an hour with a $350 monthly expense for driving your car . Also your job will not always be in the air conditioning is that ok ? I thought I won the lottery inside . From $7.00 an hour tying steel in the sun to 10 with 350 plus some AC work areas . 1st day on job pulled a fire alarm pull station in a high rise building without the system being on test with central station , nothing bypassed on Fire alarm panel .
The trainer said Bryan today we will be testing this building as soon as we walked in the door . He pointed at the pull station , and said you will be pulling these . I reached out , and pulled it :) . He just hung his head after I did that . Next the building was evacuated , Fire department ladder trucks showed up , and some very unhappy building management with us .
Worked hard in the construction side for 8 years , and then one day got a chance to do service . I always looked up to service guys like the were untouchable , and could fix anything . Now I'm the lead service tech at the company. Passed up service manger position now three times . Mainly for the pay is not much more than my current pay , but with way more stress .
