What do you think about this video

We just see it from different ends.....

If the prevelant speed is 75 why is the limit 60?  The kids did the SPEED LIMIT, how and why does obeying the law put anyone in danger? ? ?

Good answer to those 2 questions and maybe I see it your way.

When cars had drum hydraulic brakes the national limit was 75mph. I never said I LIKED pot smoking college kids- I just think it's funny they think our speed limit laws are FUGD too. Hell, I'm the first dude that wants to slam the numbmuts doing 60 in the bumper lane in the arse

I'll say it again:  What a bunch of BS-  how is a limit set by the state too slow?  Cause when it's 2am and your 7 over they're getting the ticket book out.  Why aren't the limits set at the prevelant speed?  Cause then the basts can't write you a ticket for 80.  Good christ, who would GEICO buy laser radar guns for then??

Funny stuff,

Go the speed limit, watch a pack of A55Hats melt down behind you... I think it's a great Idea. But they should have posted signs on the back of their cars so folks would know what is going on... It does make a point...

Not being vigilantes just obeying the rules. Hell there is a STACK or roads here in WA that have artificially low speed limits. It's the most absurd thing. Then the Troopers camp out and generate revenue, It's pathetic.

Those kids are bunch of shid-heads, fukwads, etc.

From the looks, they all probably don't have sex, don't drink, but they probably smoke weed, and probably came up with this shid while they were high.

My time on the road is valuable. I would be tempted to pull one of them over and beat the dog shid out of em if that was in Houston.

You can't force your beliefs on someone on a public freeway. I woul have hit the shoulder, went around, and threw something heavy out at those litlle post-puberty motherfuggers.

I guess I suffer from road rage or at least some shid like that would trigger it.

I would love to be on the busa passing them. I got a buddy that would rip some long wheelies in front of them just to let them know that they aren't shid.

Parents go home an beat your kids azzes if they show any signs of supporting some shid like this. We have enough bastids in Washington D.C. trying to tell us what to do.

Sorry, but that pissed me off.

I don't agree with what they did but lets be real. They were driving the posted speed limit. The law quoted above talks about driving slow enough to interfere with traffic but they actually weren't doing that, other drivers were breaking the law. Still stupid as hell but nowhere near vigilantes. Now had they decided to travel below the speed limit then that would be another story. Just my .02

I live on the north side of Atl. and I would be very upset with them if they pulled that on 400.  I know they were doing the speed limit but if the cops don't inforce it what gives them the right to.  Look at the mess they caused.  Did you guys notice the white van that passed on the shoulder?  This was a very uncool move that almost created a major accident.  He clipped a parked car and broke the mirror off of it.  He could have killed someone.  This is the kind of drivers and run in the Atlanta area.  If he had killed anyone it would have been all his fault and those kids would have never hurd a thing about it.  I'm not defending the guy in the van but it should have never been a problem.  The cops down here need to inforce the speed limits or atleast do something about impeeding the flow of traffic.  Get the slow cars out of the fast lane before some stupid guy pulls a move like this and kills some poor guy fixing a flat tire in the shoulder.

Yah, I guess the only thing you could realy do is break the law and pass them on the shoulder. Then start slowing to 45 or so to break up their little mess for them.

Yeah, they were keeping the law of 55. But they were breaking the law of not impeding the flow of traffic. The were also breaking the law of, "reality says we should drive faster than this in order to be truly safe." Charles is right. Vigilante-ism is not appropriate. Neither is creating a dangerous, life-threatening situation to prove ANY point whatsoever on the public freeways.

--Wag--

I think they are a bunch of dorks that will probably someday end up making the wrong people mad and no longer being a part of our society.

i think ... the only times the LAW get changed around here is
when it IRRITATES enough people. you get caught going too
fast? well, that's tough, cause it didn't happen to ALL the
sheep. if enuf of the sheep irritated then we TELL the
law makers, otherwise nuthing happens.

AND its persistent f___'s that help get the laws made.
people talking at the law-makers all the time paid by the
insurance companies.... we don't get paid to sit and
talk to the lawmakers.

dincha notice, that instead of RAISING the speed
limit, they ADDED more laws to try to keep people
from clogging up the freeway? dincha notice this was
done to make a point about THAT ONE stretch of road?
the people didn't seem to travel at the posted speed?

the RIGHT follow up would have been to take THAT
video to the people that SET the speed limits and
ASK THEM why its set that way... i thought there
was some 66% rule about traffic speeds....

its not the first time peeps did this. it was done
TONS more when the speed limit was 55 EVERYWHERE.
and if i 'memeber right... it was BIG RIGS that did
it to show how stooopid the laws were.

i dont know that i agree with what they did. first,
cause its NOT original. second, cause they didn't
USE-IT afterwards with 60-minutes or anybody else...

if its a college prank, its stoopid. but if they're using
this to go after the 55-limit on even ONE stretch of
road -- maybe its worth it.

I'll say it again: What a bunch of BS- how is a limit set by the state too slow? Cause when it's 2am and your 7 over they're getting the ticket book out. It's a crock o' shid that can only come out of Kalifornia. Follow the law by driving at the posted 55 mph speed limit and we can give you a ticket. Go 56 mph and we can give you a ticket. Nothing but a bunch of hypocritical BS.
Follow along with the flow of traffic at 70 mph on a sportbike and when you get a ticket bring up that "rule" to the judge and watch how fast it gets ignored and you get hit with fines and points on your license.

And technically how different is what they did vs. the cop that drives 55 mph down the highway causing a traffic jam because everyone is too afraid to pass him? And then the one guy brave enough to go 60 and pass him gets pulled over and ticketed...seen it happen many times.

If those kids want to make a point they need to get out there and do that every single weekday during rush hour for a month. Then maybe it might start to sink in with the 90 year old politician fugwits who create the speed limits.

At least here in Indiana they've wised up over the past few years and most of our highways are 70 mph. In my perfect world, semis would not be allowed to share the highway with passenger vehicles. Semis would get their own separate lanes that could run parallel with the standard highway divided by a barrier and could even branch off into their own network of roads for efficiency.
Once the semi's are gone, we can now have an autobahn! Accidents and highway deaths will be practically non-existent compared to what they are today and the traffic jams caused by those accidents will be gone as well. Road construction traffic jams will drastically drop too since it's the semis that do the most wear and tear to the roads.
We'll also save on taxes since we won't have to pay cops to drive up and down the highways all day in air conditioned Crown Vics wasting gas and handing out tickets. Those that want to stay in law enforcement can get transfered to the crack infested ghettos where they're needed and patrol the streets on foot.

Like someone said above, if these punks were really trying to make a politcal statement, they'd have banners on the back of their cars so everyone knew what their point was.

You can tell from their interviews that they did this for pure enjoyment.

What part of bunching everybody up into one dangerous big pile is so hard for some to understand.  These punks put everyone's life in jeporady, so they could have a good laugh.  Its dangerous for cars to be that close to each other.

In LA, I go 75-79mph all the time.  That is the flow of traffic in the fast lane.  I've pasted hundreds of cops doing this, never been pulled over.  Of course I pass slowly around Chippies, their whole purpose is writing speeding tickets.  But if you're going the flow, not changing lanes every second, they leave you alone.  I've never seen anyone pulled over for passing a cop slowly...

Every one of you that are calling them names have missed the point. I think they did a wonderful thing despite the fact that I would forbid my kid to even make eye contact with them. They upheld the posted speed limit. Period. They impeded traffic because traffic was exceeds the posted limit. The links to statutes above do not apply since they were not going too slow. Minimum speeds are posted on every highway in the nation often time under the maximum speed allowed. The minimum is a blistering 45 mph on a 65 Maximum Highway.
I think they made their point beautifully and effectively. Despite what you may believe, the speed limits on the highway are posted, Not created by traffic flow. The fact that the majority of drivers ignore the posted limits does not make the 'Unwritten Rule" of 10 over legal. If it's not written, It's not legal!
I am very thankful that I was not caught in the traffic jam behind them.

From all the b!tching and moaning I hear about the CHP (on this forum and others) I find that really hard to believe.  The opinion I've formed is that they are a bunch of hard azzes worse than any other state except for maybe Georgia.

Try passing a cop on any highway in Chicago and I guarantee it'll be the last time you try it.  All it does is show them blatant disrespect and they'll go out of their way to make an example out of you.  And 80 in a 55...odds are your car or bike is going away on a tow truck.

Actually that's what I thought until I read this in the 2nd link:

There are occasionally drivers attempting to obey the posted speed limit who may actually decrease safety by causing other drivers to make additional lane changes in order to get around slow traffic and/ or tailgate to try to speed up the traffic head. In these cases, the driver moving too slowly may cause harm to other motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists because traffic flowing at uniform speeds results in increased safety and fewer accidents.[/QUOTE]

I wonder if that paragraph was added after the incident? Source code on the page doesn't show when it was last updated.

75-78 in a 65.

As far as the chippies, I can only talk about my experience.

Out in the courtyside, sure I bet they enforce to the letter.  But in the middle of LA?  I've been passed by chippies more times than I've pasted them.  Whether its a lane sharing chippie motorcycle or a cruiser.

Like I said, the most important thing is that you don't drive/ride like an idoit.  Change lanes every second, you'll get pulled over for 66mph.  Just going with the flow in the fast lane, I've never had nor seen a problem.

As for all the bitching, I bet that those riders weren't going with the flow...

I would go nuts behind them, but they were doing the speed limit. They set-up speed traps on main highway here in Wichita and write well over 100 tickets each time for people ranging from 3 mph over and up. If flow of traffic was that important then that would not happen.
Now if they would increase the speed limits for the inside lanes and actually keep the people from merging all the way across the highway and sitting in the left lane doing under the speed limit it would help.

I drive atlanta everynight on the excact they did that on and let me tell you they need to do something about the speed laws . they need to open up the inside lanes to like 70 and the 2 outside to 55 if you get cought inthe inside lanes holding up traffi then you need to get a ticket..
right on man

What a  bunch of losers!!  What they were doing actually INCREASED the danger on that freeway.  All those cars were packed up like a bunch of sardines.  If one car blew a tire, it would have taken out 6-8 cars!!!

Yes, they weren't breaking the speed limit, but that is impeding the flow of traffic.

Leave law enforcement to cops!  You want to make a point, don't do it on the freeway.

Just a bunch of punks with nothing else better to do
mad.gif
In Cali they'd get pulled over for that crap, depending on the cop of course.  Impeding the flow of traffic.  Even cops in LA go at least 70-75 in a 65mph speed zone so as not to cause a traffic jam!!!
