This is just what I heard from our liar in cheif because he didn't get his way in the senate, man hat a frikken imperious crybaby, frikken strident communist. Guess this is what happens when a Chicago machine dictator meets American Democracy at work. Frikken used car salesman, 90% support from the American households, what a frikken strident liar.

I felt the same way he's just crying in his beer as the old saying goes. I would like to know who these idiots poll 80-90% supported the background checks that's a bunch of cr*p. These people will say anything to try and pass there agenda. It turns my stomach to even watch the jerk but at least it was fun to hear him cry cause the senate did what the people wanted.

Although I know I will get a lot of backlash from this I believe the expansion of background checks for firearms should have gone through. I live in Chicago and the violence out here is ridiculous. Majority of these guns come from outside of the state lines because we have the Background Check system in place. Granted some are stolen or sold to someone who shouldn't have a gun by someone who can purchase one. What good does it do to have the system here if someone can just go beyond state lines to make an illegal purchase. I'm not for taking anyone's (anyone that meets the criteria of owning a firearm) guns away because I have a collection that I take pride in but at least make it more of a balance and checks system to reduce the amount of guns floating around and making it into the hands of someone who has the wrong motives or intent. It has to start somewhere. This subject is near and dear to me because I have lost a lot of friends to gun violence wayyyyyyy before Sandy Oaks or Aurora, Colorado took place. God bless the souls of all of those lost. Just my (entitled to) opinion.

So you want everyone in the country to get their rights infringed upon because your city is a sht hole and will always be a violent sht hole that keeps electing the same scum bags over and over, I think you reap what you sow. To bad for you.

As a side note, it is beautiful to see Democracy work as it was created to. I only hope it can remain as such and I hope Obama goes through the right channels and procedures to have this overturned if it is. Lets not be a tyrant and force the issue. But on the flipside, he is our Commander-in-Chief and we gave him the power to do so and that as well is Democracy working as it was created to. You can't praise Democracy and be a fan of it only when things go your way....then it is a thing called Hypocrisy...although they sound the similar, not the same.

Reap what you sow hugh...lets pray that isnt the issue here because if so I'm sure there are things you've sown that you would not like to reap. No one is perfect. "Rights infringed"? No one said you cant own a gun...you should have to meet a specific criteria in order to. No one wants to empathize or sympathize until the problem is on their doorstep.

Glad you are happy with the results that the transparent democracy of Chicago has given you. He is our President, but he is also a strident socialist and a big fat habitual LIAR, I wish he would act like he was the CIC and my President and not some ward boss on the south side. BTW I do like visiting Chicago, great people, just messed up leadership in that city.

Funny things is that I'm only "from" Chicago but I now live in a much more peaceful area being that I've gone to college and got a job that enabled me to move away from the violence. But because I no longer have to endure that hardship should I turn a blind eye to it? So you can relax with the insults to Chicago because they arent on target.

Sympathy and empathy are tools used by politicians to advance their agenda, they cant help it, even when they shamelessly use a pile of 20 dead kids to do so, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Look up the definition of the word infringe.

I am also an Ex Marine and although there are some things about our President I don't agree with I still respect him as such. And lies are a part of politics in the reality I live in. All politicians do it. Hell, all people do for that matter. You show me a politician that doesnt lie and I'll show you pigs that fly...I'll wait:laugh:.

Your rights arent being limited or undermined...their being governed. If you have an issue with government and governing then we have a completely different issue.

The background checks weren't the issue. The issue is with tracking, keeping lists and the medical side. I'm ok with fixing loop holes that really matter but the facts are criminals dont follow the rules. If they would write laws that fit on a single page in plain English they might make some meaningful changes. Instead they stuff the bills full of crap no one wants and rightfully it gets voted down....from both sides.

Also if folks would actually enforce the current laws we would see significant changes. You cannot say its broken if you are not trying to work within the prescribed laws as they are.

Show me that enforcement of the current laws really doesn't work then we can talk about trying to change my 2A rights. Honestly I won't change my position but at least then the argument for changes would hold water.

I believe you have a very valid point. My only thing is the variations of the law from state to state. That alone creates major loopholes and makes it hard for the Laws as they are to work properly. We need some sense of uniformity.

Oh my gosh.... How many times do I have to say it.. ENFORCE THE GUN LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS and once you do that..... THEN we can talk about more laws if they are needed.

Here is where you are miss led, rights are rights, privileges are governed not rights. Rights are adjudicated.

If rights needed no governing then we'd have no need for the constitution. Here's a little excerpt to ground that, [According to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, "rights structure the form of governments, the content of laws, and the shape of morality as it is currently perceived."].
