Kind of a late notice and not completely sure who here is even near the Roanoke, Virginia area but Saturday June 14th at 9:30am there is a benefit ride for Roanoke City Police Officer Brian Lawrence.
Locals know the story. He responded to a dispute at a local gas station. He pulled the suspect vehicle over less than 1 mile from the gas station. He was assaulted by the suspect and beaten severly.
He is now paralyzed from the neck down and currently in Atlanta Georgia undergoing rehab. He was close to service retirement within the next year. Active in his church and multiple charities.
There is approx 600+ bikes expected at this 90 mile event. Registration starts at 8am and is $20 per rider. All proceeds go to medical bills and family expenses.
