Lastnight I went to one of the local bikenights and afterwards I stop to get gas and I use my checkcard. Well today I went to use it again and notice that it wasn't in my wallet so I thought nothing of it cause I figured I must have put it in my jacket. Well the gas light came on in my car and I'm almost on E. So I went on line using my phone and my account says that I have $113.73 in my checking account. I'm like that's not right I just got my Va check it should be atleast $550 in there. So I check all the latest transactions. Someone went on a shopping spree at Wal mart with my card. They used it twice. Once spending almost $300 and again spending almost $130. Now I always make it habit to write on the back of the card "ASK FOR ID". I guess that wasn't enough.

Sorry to hear about that bro...the world can be a surprisingly ugly place sometimes.

I'm with the others on your bank stepping up... Good luck!

i have the same thing on the back of my card also, but amazingly enough they dont even look at it...good luck on your outcome tho

I go a step further then that, SEE ID on the card took pictures and printed them out and mailed them to myself. Proof that not only did that card say that but the date that it was done by.

Yea...they got me after an online purchase. An employee was stashing card numbers and waited a few months...then bam! Over a grand in charges in like 5 mins.

sorry to hear that. your bank should square it away if you get on it right away. A couple of years ago I had charges for multiple items from a jewelry store CAIRO EGYPT! I explained to my bank that although I would like to visit the area one day, I was not in Egypt yesterday. They removed the charges and issued another card.

I had a slimeball in another state make charges at a casino in Ohio, while I was in L.A. for a week. My bank promptly shut off the card, and called me. I disputed the charge and they refunded all of the stolen money. They even sent me a new card with a different number to the hotel I was staying at, but I had to be present or FedEx wouldn't deliver. I had to delay my flight home by a few hours, but it all worked out fine. I have been a loyal customer of that bank since that event over 14 years ago.

Walmarts have very good security systems, file a police report and spank their arse....

sorry to hear, and it seems alot of places nowadays have you swipe your own card (like walmart). so it realy doesnt matter what you write on it or who has it, if you dont know its already in the wrong hands, theres not much you can do. hopefuly your bank will help you out on the missing funds.

What I'm saying is report it, and they'll pull the video from the check out line, and unless they're wearing hoddies, more than likely they'll be done

This is why I have a healthy fear of the ATM cards. Nothing like giving some filthy scumbag access to your own money. No thanks, stick to credit/charge cards folks, sure it's still a hassle to get taken care of but $50 liability, no bounced checks, and no access to YOUR actual funds.

Think about it, much better said scumbag looser burns through the Credit companies funds as apposed to your own. My experience has been that its best NOT to expose your core funds, personal checking or savings. Much better to have a satellite fund source compromised as it's less likely to cause a cascade of bounced checks, etc.

FWIW

very true i have installed 3 of them in walmarts around indiana...about 276 camera's each and 172 security system devices

sorry to hear bro I had th same thing happen but they got my card info from a gas station that only accepts debit Ahem can you say ARCO ?

There was a gas station close by running a nasty scam couple years back. They had some tricky unit hooked up to the debit machine. It recorded everything on the card, aswell as your PIN. Very clever, but very un-cool.

I have had no probs ever, all I use today is my "chipped Visa".

RSD.

Happened to us a few years ago. Now we only use our Cabellla's Visa for everything & pay it off every month. SUCKS.
