We pay the rich to get richer

I'd just like to quickly point out that the U.S. dollar is currently trading at it's highest level since early 2006. It's 13% higher than it was last August.

As much as I like to play Devil's Advocate, I can't really find anything in the original story to build a position on.

And you did notice that Congress is still giving themselves THEIR pay raise, right?

The government has decided (and maybe rightfully so cause now they are so big that a failure would have large worldwide repercusions) that AIG has to survive. AIG has contracts that they have to honor, made before the went down the tubes in early 08 (may not be bonus, but commission) that they are legally obligated to pay or be sued (and have to pay anyway). But it sure did come at a bad time...and the senior management needs to take a pay cut to show their good faith.

But, it gets better...did you see the proposed "Small Business Stimulis" package. The plan is to guaranty 90% of SBA loans and forgo the 3.5% fee. Who are you kidding? So, the government wants to make more loans available to people who want to START (as opposed to RUNNING) businesses, and tax the fire of out those small businesses who are already functioning and employing people? What's the SBA Failure rate? Keeping inheritance taxes down and providing tax incentives for small business owners (in SUB S Corps, that means PERSONAL income taxes) would seem to me to be a much better choice. That small percentage that ARE successful will then get slammed with high personal taxes in order to fund those who fail...

I think I need to go the SBA to borrow, even though I don't need it, and just not pay it back...jeez..

Socialism at it's best...the ones that succeed prop up and are penilized to help
the ones that fail. We play to the lowest common denominator instead of
enabling the gifted...soon the ones that can...wont, just because it's not worth
it...hence Socialism...FAILS...AGAIN.

It's difficult to soar when your burdened with dead weight.

What it comes down to, is that the person who never lifted a finger in their life to work has the exact same vote as the person who pay for the former's living expenses. Once the 'takers' outnumber the 'givers'....It's the greatest thing our country has to offer (equal vote) but it is also our weakness.

We can't say we didn't bring this on ourselves. The silent majority has sit back and allowed a small few gradually change our laws and slowly strip our country of any reference to God in the name of political correctness. Now we wonder why our country is falling apart. When people stop being complaicent, only then will real change will occur.

i didnt have time to read all post but i did see one about overthrowing our gov, we the people do the right to overthrow the gov if we see fit, thanks our for fathers, but our country is so full if pizzys that it would never happen, if we did do it i would be front and center :fight::fight::firing::firing::firing::firing::firing:

It's not the fact that they "control" us. We need laws, but we need people with common sense who will enforce those laws. Don't be suprised 5 - 10 years down the road if you don't start hearing about how some of the senators and Represenatives are getting kick backs from the bail out money too. That is just my own theory, nothing I have heard, but knowing the nature of the beast you know it is going to happen.

If I had any thing to do with AIG, I would be pulling out and taking my business else where. :moon:

I would love to see President Obama stand up and say AIG you are a blight on society, you have 30 days to pay back ALL of the bail out money you have recieved in 2008 and 2009. You will not be allowed to receive anymore bail out money ever. :please: :please: :please:

If your not registered to vote, I suggest you do so now. If your not happy with your Senators and Represenatives, you will know what to do.

This level headed school of thought is spot on in my opinion!
Atta girl mrsBusawhipped!!!

As I understand thte issue of the bonuses for the AIG folks.

Those bonus contracts were put into place over a year ago... they are not new, they are legal and they will not be overturned.

Listening to the pea brained Congress people talking about issuing a bill that would essentially tax the bonuses at 100% is a joke.

Congress (or at least the mutts that call themselves congressmen), could have removed them during their "oversight" of this issue

Chris Dodd put a clause into the bailout bill that all bonuses would be ensured and that they are not part of the stipulations of the bill..... yes, the same Chris Dodd that has received over $200,000 from AIG over the years in campaign contributions.

Wanna be mad, be mad at Dodd.

Finally... isn't it interesting to see Barney Frank talking to AIG like he is a virgin here..... This is pretty much all his fault to begin with.

Frank and dodd need to be in jail

2010 let's start to clean house.........

I was thinking today if I was a Republican Senator from where ever,
I'd get a couple of Right Wing buddies and call Dodd to a phone call
in the back room and just beat the sheet out of 'em.

Oh I'd probably do some time in jail for that, but I bet I'd be elected
for life and could run for President from there.

The entire Gov't needs to be impeached...
