Video game encourages cop killing

Here's a good description of a video game wherein kids get to choose to be gang bangers and kill cops.

25 to Life

I'm no real proponent of online polls because the controls are limited. However, you may wish to google "Eidos 25 to life" and see what you get.

Almost as bad as Warner Bros. records releasing a CD with a song on it called "Cop Killers."

Are video games harmless? Who gives a rat's asss? The fact that someone can come up with a game to promote such a thing is abhorrent to the senses.

yes i agree it is stupid but if people did not buy it they would not sell it. i just chose to teach my kids and play the games with them. i have had people say to me the should not make a bike as fast as a busa. the bike never speeds it is me doing it. if we ban the game could it be said that our bikes should be baned? don`t get me wrong i will rever play that type of game crap but i don`t want people telling me what i should do. thanks for listeing. my 2.5 cents

I'm sure there were plenty of petitions trying to ban KISS back in the 70's too.

Parents need to keep their kids from playing ADULT games. Ban that game and we should also ban anything and everything aimed at adults because kids might have access to it. If you as an adult don't like the game, then don't buy it. If I want to buy it and play it that's MY BUSINESS.

Personally I never heard of that game until clicking on the link. It's nothing that hasn't been done before and actually it looks pretty tame compared to Postal 2 Share the Pain which I just completed. Hell, part of Postal 2 is slaughtering "Parents Against Video Game Violence" protestors!

It's just a game like porn is just a movie. Let's let the kids watch that.... it's more natural than violence anyway. When your 9 year old looses her virginity... remember it was JUST a movie ;)

I BIG problem is adults are too stupid and belive video games are JUST games - harmless fun. They never USED to be so offensive. Then again, TV never used to allow the A word or the B word either, and PG movies were more for adults.

VA, what are those words I'm reaching for....

Many parents are too selfish to REALLY take charge or raising their kids, but they are too busy being busy and selfish to realize that

AMEN to that. Parents don't take time to see what there kids are playing and watching now days. Adults know that is just a game but children are to influenced TV and video games now days.

People should look at the porn industry, and ban that.

It all boils down to parents owning up to "doing their job".
Be a role model...show them the "right way" to deal with people and situations...instill a good work ethic and allow them to "be themselves" (by that I mean don't push your kid into any activity that you yourself have a history with...either excelling or complete failure)......and those kids will learn in a good way.
If your child looses her virginity at 9...then you only need to look in the mirror.
Take away the 24/7 video games and send them outside to play...they need to develope imaginations and use creative thinking.
This next generation is growing up on video games and 400+ channels of TV. Most all of their skills are reaction based...and not pro-active.

BTW....what gives us the right to kill aliens all the time. when was the last time a group of 8 or 9 aliens dragged you from your car and beat you senseless, all captured on video tape.
wow.gif

I do not support real killing of any kind except in self defense....but if you have such a weak mental fortitude, that you are influenced by games or music...or movies, etc....the you are a waste of space. Stop blaming your "surroundings" and take responsibility for your actions. Anyone that blames "the music" or "the video game" for their actions is either looking for a scape goat or looking to make a quick $$$.
As for children being influenced....please re-read the first paragraph.

All excellent points.

I wonder how many of the people signing that lame azz whiney petition regularly enjoy a nice frosty beer after a long days work or fine wine at a restaurant?

Let's see...beer can lead to:

Addiction
Alcohol poisoning
Cirrhosis of the liver
DEADLY DUI ACCIDENTS
Spousal and child abuse/neglect/murder

Beer is easily obtainable by children and teens and even the best parents can't watch over their kids 24/7.
Bad parents are known to throw BEER BASHES for their TEENAGE KIDS.

My guess is that alcohol will KILL more people and DESTROY MORE FAMILIES within THE NEXT HOUR compared to all the damage done by video games since Pong was introduced in the early 70's.

Those b!tching and moaning about violent video games need to get their beloved BEER and all other forms of alcohol BANNED! Follow that with all tobacco products, drugs, guns, gambling, overly fast cars and motorcycles ect. ect. before even mentioning video games.

25% of teen drivers killed in 2003 had a BAC of .08 or greater. That's nearly 1000 deaths! Think about it...it's Friday evening, by the end of today 2 or 3 kids somewhere will be dead due to alcohol and driving.

Anyone care to post how many people died from video games in 2003?

do we include Colombine and others?
Sure, go ahead and include Columbine. You can include any and all scapegoat bullsh!t "blamed" on video games.
I'll even let you ignore the Religion, Cliques, Bullying, Goth Culture, Heavy Metel Music, Violent Movies, Anti-Depressants, Internet Chat Forums, Bad Parents and any of the dozens of other things that were used as an excuse for what they did.

Go ahead and blame every school shooting on video games and we'll compare it to how many deaths we see over alcohol.

BTW, are you for gun control too? After all they were kids and they did get access to guns.

Great posts, parents do need to parent instead of allowing video games and the television to do the job for them. Of course there is the question of liability of the company producing this product. Granted we live in America and have a "free society" however any company producing a game advocating the killing of police regardless of the target age of who they are marketing to is just wrong.

Oh, about a 1½ years ago (day before Thanksgiving) my niece watched as her friends ran down the hall with blood flying everywhere. A kid went nuts and started hacking up students and teachers with a large machete in Valparaiso High School.

He said GOD told him to do it.

Do we now put a ban of God because he used that as an excuse?

I think we should if God's only shown purpose was killing cops, raping hookers and stealing their money to buy more bling for his ride
smile.gif
Which is the only known purpose of certain video games.... oh wait... they're fun? When did KILLING COPS become "Fun"?

I don't care WHO you are, if you have kids, it's YOUR responsibility to rasie them up right and now days that means MONITORING EVERYTHING they do, and CENSORING ALL things inapprorpiate for them. Or pay the consequences later in life.

What sort of abuse happened to those poor children who grew up thinking that when they become adults, making violent video games will net them a lot of cash? I mean, who trades their values for cash? ? ?

oh nevermind, self defeating question

Gawd, I love these discussions!

Parents do tend to be lazy. They don't care what they're kids do. Much of the time, they feel guilty for being away so much so they think that giving the kids free rein is a way to make up for that lost time together with the kids.

Well, like I said originally, it wasn't the game itself that blew my mind. I don't think they have THAT much influence anyway. It just amazes me, however, that there is someone out there who thought it up.
