Vent line - leaking gas

My 2002 Hayabusa leaks gas from the vent line. If parked overnight it will have a SMALL marking of gas underneath the bike in the morning. I plugged the vent line with a golf tee while the bike is parked. When the bike has the golf tee in the vent line it eventually leaks small amounts of gas at the top of the tank, from the gas cap. If I take the golf tee out, a lot of gas comes running out then stops (about as much gas as I'd imagine would be in the entire vent line).

Any ideas what could be causing this and how I could fix it apart from buying a whole new tank?

I'd say it sounds like the breather lines in the tank are either

a) corroded, thus causing the vent line to leak out gas
b) clogged - pressure is building up somewhere. Take a piece of soft wire and run it through the valves at the back of the tank. It's gonna need to be at least the length of the breather line inside the tank....but it must be soft enough so that it doesn't damage the lines.

was the tank full? Do you get the hiss after you turn the bike off?

Full tank + warm day/evening = overflow

no hiss after shutdown = not sealed tank cap = leaks
