(finallly) Finished writing an article about Hwy 120 - Tioga Pass, the highest Sierra Pass in California at 9945 feet. Check it out!

Hwy 120 starts in the middle of the state, rides into the Sierra Foothills, and then into Yosemite National Park. But on the eastern end, it heads for the Nevada border along Mono Lake across the high desert with elevations around 8000 feet. Very fun ride! Put it on your bucket list.

I know the feeling. I’ve been over it twice since it opened this year but the weather was spectacular. Like Tim I rode over it in mid June one year and it was so cold above 7,500’ that I put on my cold weather gear. Funny, on the way down the other side I stopped around 8,000’ to change gear again. One year on tour in very early summer I rode thru several states and high elevation National parks and surprisingly, the last park I visited was Lassen in NorCal and it had more snow than any of the other states I rode thru.
