United Empire of America....

Lets give it a name.. The UEA seems most fitting. I know many people have thought about it but, after a quick google search, I'll take credit for coining the term "The United Empire of America".

This line of thinking has simmered within my psyche with added vigor, most recently after being shaken out of bed by an insurgent bridge explosion here in Ramadi a few weeks ago. What kind of hatred would motivate a people to take on such actions? The fight or flight response was at 100% with a fear I had not experienced in a long time or ever.

As a proud American I have to ask the question: Is a relatively constant state of war, hot or cold, necessary for the advancement of our society or the larger world?

Does the regular upset of tranquility serve as a symbiotic partner to the needs of society?

I essence, what I ask is: "Can the America and the world progress without war?"

Unfortunately, the answer is no. As long as there are people and groups in the work that are not tolerant to beliefs and ideologies of others, conflict and war will be a reality. The United States has not gone to war to expand our territories or force our beliefs on others. We have gone to war to prevent others from taking those things from us.

There will always be a reason for hatred for those who hate. We, and I mean as country would not be able to remove all the reasons and remain free. Therefore the only other thing to remove is hate. Figure that one out and you would most likely become a martyr.

Not everyone wants Democracy.

When you have your dog poop in your neighbors yard they won't like it. Telling them it will fertilize the grass won't make the poop any more likable.

What I want to know is where is the money coming from to fund this war everywhere??

The U.S. claims to be broke, I was shocked a few days ago to learn about Dubai World and the UAE situation. From what I have read China, Russia, and others are all claiming to be broke as well.

England seems to be the only one claiming to have some money. So where is the money coming from for the war and the bail outs and the non stop everything else?

Seriously?
Our government is mortgaging our future, just as they always have. It's called a defecit.
What's sadly amusing is all the objection to health care reform, which supposedly will bankrupt future generations.
This just in: They are already screwed because they gotta pay for this war!
"Govenment in charge of healthcare = socialism" scream the conservatives. WTF do they think overpaying for under-performing military contracts is?
Oh and trust me the UK is broke as well...

The bible states that these things will take place. War is mans ways of solving issues. We declare war on drugs. War against gangs. War with each other. You name it, we have a war on it or against it. There will always be war until the return of Christ.

Hi Mr. Brown. I don't think we have ever communicated in a thread. My name is Kristin. I work negotiating contracts for a large commercial managed care company. My counter part works for a government/military contractor.

It is funny how diverse we can all be and still love to ride.

Hello Kristin. Jeremy here. Your counterpart should understand socialism up close and personal....
Diversity is what makes the world an interesting place!

That's the answer, let's just spend more on health care?? It doesn't matter since we've spent so much on the war, right? If you use that concept at home you'll be sleeping in the streets. ???

Anyway, back on topic. I think we (mankind) are making progress, but will we ever be completely absent of war? I doubt it. Sometimes you have little choice when people or countries back you into the kill or be killed scenario. I look at the situation currently between Iran & Israel. It's like watching two trains heading straight for each other and no one seems to have a solution on how to avoid it. What makes it worse is that one of the trains carry your friends on board while the other helps to faciliate your supplies. You know either way it's going to be a lose/lose situation for you, yet you can only sit there powerless to watch. War sucks, but sometimes ego's, greed, and misunderstandings line up to make it unavoidable.

Ummm, you missed my point. Let me claify: Stop spending money on an un-winnable war, and apply it to healthcare. You know, let tax dollars be spent on people in this country who pay the damn things in the first place. And please spare me the "we are keeping our citizens safer by invading a foriegn sovereign nation" nonsense. That kind of thinking is what gets us in these quagmires to begin with. The majority of Americans benefit NOTHING by this war. Some are making bank on it for sure, but it ain't helping the average Joe/Joesephine at all.

No, I got your point. We are in a war with people who want to do us harm regardless of whether or not you feel it's "winnable". After 9/11 we had two choices to make. We could either turn our heads as we watched our fellow Americans die or we could stand up and fight. We can debate all day on whether or not we should have went to Iraq, but the undeniable truth remains that we got punched in the face on 9/11 and we either stood up to the threat or coward to it. Once you stand up to fight your enemy you cannot back down until they are no longer a threat. We're not there yet. Personally I would rather spend my tax dollars ALL DAY LONG to stand up than to turn my head and do nothing. I would imagine if you had lost family in those towers you may feel differently about fighting that "un-winnable" war.

Sorry Projekt, didn't mean to jack your thread. Now back to your regular scheduled programming.

Okay dude. Take some history classes and tell me which country has succceeded in occupying Afghanistan. Now shift back to more current events and tell me how many of the hijackers were Iraqi nationals. So ya, the war is un-winnable, and invading Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
It's cool bro, keep drinking the kool-aid:rofl::rofl:
