Uh oh... Starter spinning, bike not starting.

About an hour ago while attempting to pull away from a light I had a bit of a rolling stall. Immediately afterwards when I attempted to start it I hear my starter gears spinning but that is it...

I pulled off the Starter clutch cover and sure enough the viable gears are in fact spinning, but that is it.

Is this bad news? 2007 Gen1.

The slipper clutch gear may be bad. There is the starter gear, the middle gear and the clutch gear to the engine. The one on the engine has clutches inside and they go bad.

As a matter of interest, what was the fix...??

There is a C clip holding the plates of this particular assembly together (forgive my ignorance on the exact name of the part). Apparently during the tip over the clip became unseated and allowed the dry plates to simply spin, as there was no real pressure holding them together.

Goldenchild removed the part and used a press to provide the pressure needed to re-attach the C clip in its proper position.

Most definitely not something I could have done on my own without the proper tools.

Thanks again Daniel.
