two questions: twin turbo? upgrading from stage 1 to stage 2?

ok my question is more of woundering at this point.

First is it possible to do a twin turbo on a busa? if so would it be just for looks or could u actualy get some use out of it?

Secondly was wounder if it would cost alot to change from stage 1 turbo kit to strage 2?(the kits in question are the rcc turbo kit stage 1 99-07 250hp to the stage 2 rcc turbo kit 425 and maybe eventual upgrade to rcc ultra kit or rcc street/strip 550 kit) mainly woundering is it just a few differnt parts that seperate these kits? if so to fit a buget would it be a smart idea to buy the stage one and little by little buy whats needed to make up the higher kits?

buy a larger kit and turn the boost down if the larger kit is your end goal.

You can upgrade the small kits somewhat, but you will pay ten fold going that route and never achieve all of the gains of the larger kit unless you just buy one.
 
A twin turbo setup would be a major unnecessary undertaking. Major cash, weight, added complexity, and pain in the arr$$. Its not worth it at all, unless your trying to build a ridiculous, "look at me" fancy pants show bike. This is a crazy set of questions. The rcc website is the best place to answer your second question. I recommend using the search tab and calling this company. If your serious and have at least 10+grand. For instance a little gt25r flows round 44lbs per/min.. two of those little turbos would flow nearly 90lbs per/min. Technically speaking thats nearly enough air to flow a lil less than 900 bhp... 880 to be exact not considering all the other crazy factors, but anyways my point is... thats way to much power for 99% of riders in the world. http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/tech_center/turbo_tech101.html I don't know if you've read these, but these basic to advanced articles are a good way to get a foot hold on the this turbo mumbo jumbo and they helped me out.

twin turbo setups are usually done to reduce spool times. 2 small turbos will spool faster than 1 large one. Unless you really need to reduce spool time, stay with a single turbo.

and most cars that use twin turbo use them in series (ie: the supras)

guys who want to make power yank the twins and go to a big single.
 
If you go with twins I suggest letting NLR out of Alabama fab your custom kit up. $24,000 for the kit, motec standalone and tuned. He would be the premier turbo guy and the only one i would let build a twin setup...or Richard Peppler of RCC could problably build you some crazy ****. Whatever you do don't get those McCoy guys up north to do it or whatever video that was floating around of that twin turbo goof ball busa. If RCC or NLR build something it will look good and serve its purpose
 
if you're going to go twin, go sequential. a small one and a big one. little one spools up super quick, the big one spools a little later and gives you your top end power.
 
Sequential would be an overly complicated design
nlr stated he would go the parallel route I'd have to agree as to complicated a setup could make it a real pain

i never said it was easy, i just said if set up properly, it'd spool fast and have top end. never said it was a good idea either:laugh: a properly sized single will give more than enough power and quick spool as well.
