Truck traveling 100 MPH crashes in Ks

Sometimes when I read the news I have to ask myself what was this individual thinking....

Driving a pickup at 100mph on public road...running from the police...I think we can toss "thinking" out of the equation.

Was listening to my police scanner last night (can't go to sleep without it on), and someone called in a black F350 dually and another pickup racing a few miles down the 4 lane from my house. Caller claimed they were probably going 100+.
I live right next to the afore mentioned 4 lane, and you wouldn't believe what I hear (also see if I'm outside) going by.

The incident began at 10:50 a.m., when an officer clocked an eastbound Ford F150 going 100 miles an hour near the Oliver exit.

"He tried to catch up to him, but the guy had a head start on him," Krok said.

How can a cruiser NOT catch a truck doing 100?? If that's the case then why even attempt chasing a sportbike?
