Tre and turbo

If you have the need to top out your bike it's the only way it's going to happen, but they cause glitchs sometimes. I never recommend them unless you do top end stuff. If your bike is mapped correctly you won't need it to fix bottom end problems.

Thanks for the reply.

Due to bordem I was reading about the TRE and how it adds a little snap to the bottom end. My bike is a tire fryer now with a 10 over arm but a little more umph never hurts. Since I have a 00 bike I believe the TRE isn't going to help me any at the top end, or am I wrong?

Talking TRE is like talking politics. You are on one side of the fence or the other. I'm the guy sitting on the top of the fence watching both sides. I've never run one but have always been curious as to it's purpose and it's function.

I'm not really a side chooser, i go by my experience with a product and after a few hundred Busas on my dyno and damn near every configuration possible i go by what works the best for my customers. 80% of the time if a bike comes in with strange running glitchs, idle fluctuations, throttle glitches that are not constant, and just weird happenings i can look under the tank and usually find a TRE. Yes they help with low end on a stock bike with no powercommander, but if you get the bike tuned correctly you would never notice it. The only time we use them is if we have a bike that needs to run to redline in 6th gear.

Holly ####, redline in 6th gear!

Thats-a-bookin'.

You said "on a stock bike" they help. That is something that has been missing from the TRE debates I've read. (or I just missed it) I see where your coming from as far as tuning it right and not needing it. Thanks for your input.

300Busa that was my understanding as far as the speed limiter goes. However I thought it would still be effective on the low end like it has been claimed it does. TurboProStreet brings up a very valid point with the correct tuning if your running some sort of piggy back system like a Power Commander. Which leaves me to ask will a TRE work on a bone stock 99-00?

Hmm-- TRE-- politic's--Funny--- My .02---- The 99 and 2000 Busa has no restrictor in sixth gear.
01 and up all do. What it does is limit the top speed i sixth gear--- like going down a steep grade at WFO----- a rpm limiter kicks in at around 184-186 actual mph---you will not get to the actual redline of 10,800 rpm. In fifth gear it will go all the way to the revlimiter-- which is a GPS true speed of 176 mph. [ That was fun ] but pi__ed that i only matched the top speed of a ZX1100 Ninja.
I made my own tre--cheap cheap--with a switch--- when on it's on it fools the computer to think the bike is in 5th gear all the time---Most ignition advance and fuel delivery in all gears--except when you pull the clutch lever in. When i let the clutch out it goes back to the 5th gear map-- changing the engine tone to a nice deep rumble in neutral. I have found in 20,000 miles
that i leave the tre on all the time. I have a PCII and a Muzzy full system. She runs very sweet-but most Busa's hate going 25 mph---- in 2nd gear---runs kinda rough---tre on or not--but to me it does it less with the tre on....but some say it does it worse with a tre. Gofigure. Anyway--something i do not understand-- gas milage----Twice now i have ridden from my house to Lee Vining--106 miles--using my GPS--- And i don't ride like a wuss--TWO GALLONS !!!!!!!!!!!!
What JC said-- don't need a tre---i saw his mod of the gear position sensor--solderd across the pads to do the same thing as adding a tre..clever and free. Off Rant-- ride safe now....

If a bike runs better with a TRE on it and has a powercommander it needs to get mapped right or get it remapped by someone who knows what they are doing. With a Busa tuned right you should be able to idle around a parking lot, ride at 25 in second gear, and get around 40MPG normal highway. if you can't there is a problem with your fueling. PC2's also had some weird problems with loosing maps for no reasons so that a possibility?

Johnny if your redoing the GPS's for the 5th 5-6 send me a PM and let me know how much for the mod. I have some customers i would like to do this for but don't have the time to redo them (tedious as hell i know).
