TPS Question

Can a TPS be bad and not cause a code? I mean if the resistance does not increase smoothly when tested with a multimeter will the ECU recognize that?

Yes a tps can be bad and not code. They can get dead spots in them and cause the throttle to be jerky. You have to test them with an analog multi-meter, not a digital multi-meter. (a dmm can skip over the dead spot, you can watch the needle drop on the analog meter)

I've been using a digital one. The measurements start out below specs(1.1k instead of 1.3) and goes up to 3.7k. I can adjust it and get the lower range to move up some, but the upper range gets no higher. Also, the lower range seems real touchy and goes up and down until it gets above 2k. I'll get a hold of an analog meter and retest it. If it is indeed bad, where can I get one for a 99? Thanks for the reply.
