Todays Sportbikes Suck!!

WTF! I've had a crap day and have decided to take it out on the innocent. Each month I get almost ALL of the major motorcycle publications with great glee. I get them and squirel myself away from my girl and the kids.
I am however growing more and more disappointed with the current sportbike trends; there just doesn't seem to be a real difference between any of them. Ergos, horsepower, dimensions, hell even the bore and stroke are IDENTICAL on some models. The manufacturers just don't seem to make the same innovations they once did. GSXR750, CBR900 to name a couple. These models broke the mold and made the rest follow. Now it just seems like nobody will or can pull away. Bummer.
Long live the Hayabusa! 9+ years since it came, nobody is even close...screw the ZX14! If they really wanted to throw the gauntlet down it would be at least 200 hp at the rear wheel w a heads up display, electronic suspension....yada yada yada.

I dunno...I find the amount of power that manufactures get out of these small displacement engines nothing short of a mircle. Also add the fact they have to keep up with tree huggin' EPA standards and noise requirements. They simply have designs that work are reliable and run clean.

Even weight is getting harder to shave off without having the bike fall apart on you. Add too many exotic light weight materials and the bike then becomes unaffordable.

NUTS, they're not only expensive to fix, they're hard to fix correctly.  Give me the old tighten, solfen, nuts and bolts. The bikes are already WAY beyond my abilities NOW

The new Ducati 1098 S with its twin (clamed 160 rwhp) and tube frame is one bike I would like to own.....just as long as it was able to sit along side my busa.

You can get more bike for the money in any of the big 4 but the Ducatis are slick.

(swimmer7946 @ May 16 2007,19:59) Hey im not saying that these bikes are not technilogical wonders in there own right, but truly makes them different ??
In the looks dept. I don't know how much you can change them and still consider them a motorcycle or just keep aerodynamics in general. I can still tell the Kaws, Hondas, Zuks and Yamahas apart...well sport bikes that is, the cruisers all look alike. I guess the bold innovations are going towards the scooter and jet ski manufacturers.

A factory Supercharged engine from a Peugeot scooter also equipped with intercooler and EFI. The scooter is electronically limited to 85 mph. Oh and it's only 125cc!

And of course the jet ski market is making insane HP with turbos.
