Tire shelf life?...

Got a question:

What's the shelf life of a tire?
I'm thinking of buying a couple sets at a time if I run across a good deal and store them in the garage. What's the shelf life? Is there any special technique for storage?

They have good shelf life. Put them in a giant leaf bag and seal it. Keep them away from electric motors and excess heet. You should be able to keep them for over a year...........

Keep them in a cool dark place and they last a minimum of 6 years. I have run them on the streets that were 8 years old and they worked just fine.

If I am going to keep tires more than a year, I store them in black plastic bags and store them in a cool dry place. Don't store them in a place where the temps will get extremely cold for prolonged periods of time.

Think i read somewhere tires have a date stamp in weeks/year and it's illegal to sell them past 5 years? But i would have no issue storing tires like the guys say above ( temp control black bag) for 5 years or so.
