I suspect there is something else going on besides putting in 10w30. While it is thinner than 10w40, if you rode as easy as you say, it shouldn't matter. What concerns me is that the oil was black and really thin. Did the old oil smell like fuel at all? Do you see any smoke from the exhaus at any time?
