Throttlemeister

I have one on my BMW R1100S. It works well, but it's a 2-handed operation (hold the throttle with right hand, or left, and turn the throttlemeister with the free hand) while you're riding, unless you want to let go of the throttle. The fit and finish is tops! However, I'm considering a Vista Cruise for the 'busa. It works much easier, and is super cheap.

TreeBeard,
I am wondering if your shimimg is correct. On my Blusa, I can roll the T/M on and off with my pinky, without letting go of the throttle. You are the first person that I have heard say it is a two handed process.

I had the heavyweight version of the TMCC on the suburban Type S2 handlebars of my FZ1...Mr. Fischer himself custom installed them for me at Daytonas Bike Week '02...the heavier bar-end weights dramatically reduced bar vibes and the CC worked well but...my busa is far less buzzy than my FZ1 was and...I hear tell that the "Fast Idle" (what some refer to as "The Choke Lever") can be adjusted too maintain 4K rpms on the busa motor..which in 6th gear (stock sprockets) gives you a FREE cruise control up to around/about 70-75mph...I'm gonna try that first.

I have the standards and love it. I dont notice the vibes that every one says is there. On the plus side, you can do stupid stuff like stand on your tank with ease.

+1

MC Mustang: You might have a more coordinated pinky than I do. The shimming seems fine, in terms of friction to the grip, but it's quicker for me to get the throttlemeister positioned with my clunky 2-handed method than by my pinky, especially if I want an intermediate friction level.

Wow. Just never heard that before. I think that if I had to use both hands, I probably wouldn't use it at all.

the two hand method is what i had to use on my cbr1100xx, so have been staying away from mounting one on my busa.....too tricky to put both hands on the same side of the bike.

I want to get throttlemeister for my Busa and I have a couple of questions for you TM experts.

1. To engage TM do you roll on the throttle and twist TM and the same time, or, twist TM and then roll on the throttle. Either way accomplishes the same thing... I just wondered how everyone else does it.

2. How well does TM hold the throttle? Does it stay where you set it, or does it require adjustment to maintain the desired speed?

Thanks in advance

I have TM mounted on my FJR, and to be honest, don't like it. Looking back, I wish I wouldn't have bought it. Even with the modest power of the FJR it's tricky to set (with one hand) and get the throttle exactly where I want it. Typically what happens is, I'll attempt to set it (make sure you have plenty of room in front of you before you do this. Especially the first time!), but the throttle setting will be a bit too high or low. Then once the friction is set, I'll readjust the throttle more. At first I thought I'd just get used to working it sooner or later, but that wasn't the case. I ended up installing one of those thin little $20 throttle locks (which does the same thing), and it works perfectly everytime. The operation of the TM just seems cumbersome to me. With all the low-end torque that the Busa has, there was no way I was going to install one on it. It'll probably get the $20 throttle lock treatment sooner or later too.

My .02.

I have the heavy ones, I think there is less Vibration than the stock ends! Works good, looks good, worth the money.NJ.:)

Hmm dont know if mine are the heavy or reg ones. But I ve got a set for $100 shipped. In mint condition, minimal use.

I finally had mine installed; used it to make the 3 hour run to meet the VA guys in the fall...

It was scary at first because I wasn't 100% sure how it would work until I tried it out...I was on I64, little traffic and set it, then it took off! I went from about 65 mph to 90 mph in the blink of an eye...hubby wondered why I was racing past him

To answer your question Steven, if you want to engage the TM, you tighten the bar end (away from you if I remember correctly...hard when you're not sitting on the bike!). Then you roll on the throttle and let it go...the TM catches and holds the throttle for you.

To release it, you just roll off the throttle and it lets go...

My luck with maintaining an exact speed is not so great, but the TM helps enough to warrant the cost if you do long highway riding. It felt like I was continually trying to readjust it to keep at the same pace as the hubby over several miles...

Still, I don't regret installing it...on those long runs, you'll be thankful to have it...

I use mine a little differently -
I roll the throttle to the desired speed and then, using my ring finger and pinky, roll on the TM to hold speed. When I need to make minor changes, I open/close the throttle, overriding the friction, but if I have to make a dramatic change, I just roll the TM off then the throttle. I DO NOT use the TM in heavy traffic or in town with lots of stops or speed zones....

Sorry duplicate post.....

Oh certainly, you can do that too...

And +1 on never using it in rural areas or with a lot of traffic...

So, since I am considering getting one also and it seems the group agrees on the heavy ones for vibe relief, my question is regular finish or polished
